2014 Red Tacoma TRD Sport 4WD

I own a 2014 Tacoma TRD Sport 4WD and have done quite a few mods to it. I would like to change out the signal light indicators in the sideview mirrors to LEDs and black out the chrome background in them. Has anyone done this? Any suggestions for disassembly and reassembly? Can it be done?

Appears to be encased. Someone in this thread suggested to put a smoked overlay on the lenses if you want to diminish the chrome at least:
