Oil leak between manual transmission and transfer case ...

    I was in process of doing the accumulator hack on my manual transmission line and noticed some oil residue where the rear of the transmission and front transfer case castings meet.

    My dealer is almost 2 weeks out so will take it in but wondering if anyone has had same issue and what was diagnosis.

    The leak appears to be minor but the truck only has 23K miles. I replaced all fluids except transfer case over 2 years ago when the truck had 5K miles and never noticed a leak until recently.

    Update:

    Just got back from dealer ... t-case oil seal was leaking from the output shaft. Replaced seal, gasket, and fluid under warranty.

    Never had much faith in dealers so hopefully it will take care of problem. I already noticed that it was refilled with
    $30 75W-90 Synthetic Gear Lube - 1 Quart (Pack of 2)
    75W-90 vs 75W straight.

    There's an o-ring seal between the trans and t-case, has to be that.

    It could just be sweat, just take photos of it, and if it starts to drip then its a concern.

    It's very common to see residue there.

    From what I’ve read on here, unless it’s dripping they won’t fix it under warranty. They will say it’s “sweating” and it’s normal.
