Well. me being me, someone decided to sell their 1966 mercedes 200 for cheap, picked it up for 1k, has been sitting since 2001 in a barn. So far i've just got it into the garage at my uncles place. Battery in, no power. First step is getting power in the car, then i'll be working on getting the engine running. Engine in it is not original, instead it has a 1965 1.9l in it and the a/c compressor is missing. Rust is VERY minimal and alot of the paint should polish up fine, carpet is in taters and i need to get window seals and the trunk seal.
But, here she is in all her glory! 141k miles

Best part about the car? all the paper work is with it, recipts of work from 92 and up, the original invoice and all the booklets for the car, even a map of the whole world with all dealer locations in 1966

tundras down waiting for a radiator still.. because of a CSF not fitting i had to have a custom one made since i wont accept anything other than all aluminum... tired of plastic tanks blowing out at the worst times possible

thats going to be a sweet ride! a guy i worked with had an old Mercedes that he converted to cooking oil. you always new when he pulled up. french fries falling out of his tailpipe! he kept a couple of donor cars in his backyard for spare parts. he would tow his little jonboat around with it. good luck with the restore!

fun fact, this car was owned by someone in south bend that actually worked at once of these Studebaker/Mercedes dealers. to this day he collects them, has some super expensive mercs. this was a gift to the family i bought it from from him, but they fell on some harder times and the car got parked never touched since 01

service records from him show it had a Brand new mercedes exhaust installed in 92. but sadly its laying on the ground right now because it broke somewhere under the car. Engine was replaced with a 1965 1.9l due to the old 2.0 being fed the wrong gas by the owner before him and putting holes in the pistons

I gotta find the washer fluid bottle and a plug for the firewall. Other than that and the ac compressor, it seems to all be there

Well. I have hazards. That’s about it. All the fuses look good. But it’s going to be a hunt to find a wire or something

so, once i get the electrical figured out, getting it running is my next step. then, brakes. After all thats done, fix the exhaust and drive it. I will be converting all the lights to LED just to save the little 35 amp alternator on the car. and also hopefully be able to see better at night because ive yet to be in a car with sealed beam headlights that inspire confidence driving down backroads. These will likely be the headlights i use, and all the other bulbs will likely be sylvania too

That's got the round fuses - yes? Did you try rolling the fuses? finding that clean spot.

i actually ordered the copper ones to replace the old aluminum ones. reason being, no dissimilar metal corrosion to worry about.. i also have brand new toyota terminals im going to put on the battery to get a better connection there. the main harness goes from battery, to starter, then starter to fuse box. really simple setup

Well. Check the gas tank, I needs to be dropped and cleaned out. Oh well, 3 bolts for that. But I’ll have to trailer it home to do that. The farm doesn’t have tools to do that comfortably. Still figuring out electrical issues but the car does have signs of life again. Radio powers on but no sound and the antenna won’t go out. But good sign it turns on
