Negative. The tweeters aren't plug and play for the 2nd gen.

I am planning to upgrade my 2017 TRD Sport Access Cab speakers and learning about this website and thread has been a godsend having never attempted such a thing.

I have a couple items I’d like to clarify. When I look at Crutchfield to see what replacements they offer for the dash speakers, all I see are 3” midrange speakers. Yet from this thread I understand that tweeters are being installed in that location. Is that correct or have I missed something?

Also, if installing the tweeters does that imply the front door 6x9’s should not be 3-way’s? I think one of the Kickers quoted earlier in the thread were 3-way’s but that seems like it might be redundant if the Subaru tweeters are also in the mix.

    Thanks!

Are these the only tweeter option for 3rd Gens? I noticed Crutchfield sells midrange speakers for the Dash, not tweeters.

These are the only plug and play straight out of the box option, you can hook up any tweeter or appropriate sized speaker just need to rig the wiring and mounting bracket.

Thanks for the write up. I had ordered some noico mat for my doors and rear wall. Figured I should upgrade the speakers at the same time. I ordered the Subaru tweeters off of Amazon with Kicker 43DSC69304 and Kicker 43DSC6704 from Crutchfield.

After talking to the Crutchfield support, I went with the DSC speakers over the CS. They should have the same sound quality with a lower power requirement. I do not plan on installing an amp, so this seemed fine to me. I should add that the CS rears were out of stock. Here is what Jasan at Crutchfield had to say on it "The CS series you had your eyes on handle up to 100 RMS watts....which means for them to perform really well, you need an amp. But with the DSC series, they stop at 60, and we don't need as much power. So they will sound MUCH better because they are not being under powered." It seems like folks on here want to say the stock entune unit puts out a good deal of power, but I have no idea on anything quantitative in terms of a measurement. I think these should be fine, and took Crutchfield's advice.

I will report back on the install and sound quality improvement. All in all, I'm in for about $330 including the 36 sqft noico mat, a roller to help install it, and all the speakers mentioned above. Doesn't seem too bad for the rave reviews on here.

One more note, I wasn't able to find the sensitivity of the subaru tweeters. Anyone have any clue what it is?

Wanted to post a follow up after installing the speakers mentioned above and some noico 80mil mat. It noticeably reduced the amount of noise in the cab (still nowhere near silent) and the speakers have MASSIVELY improved the sound clarity. I can hear notes and sounds that were just muffled in all the distortion of the factory speakers. Money well spent if you are on the fence. Not much (if any) louder but very distinct improvements in sound quality.

So what is a good 6x9 speaker for the door if you are going to do the Subaru/Kicker drop in tweeter? Every post I’ve seen, guys are using 3 way 6x9 front speakers. Even the famed Post 112 he is using 3 way kickers with tweeters in the 6x9. I would have to think you don’t want any tweeter in the front door. If you have the Subaru tweeter in the dash.

Ok So.... I am a bit confused. I have read all the posts... so I spent a long time here on this. haaa. But, this Subaru tweeter. I have been hearing about this thing for a year now. I have been doing other mods though. I never seem to see any model number or anything regarding this tweeter. And, it seems there is a similar kicker tweeter or the Subaru tweeter is made by kicker... or...?

See.. confused ! Anyone willing to help me out?

And, also someone chimed in on this thread or maybe more than 1 person, asking about this whole thing with regards to the JBL/subwoofer setup for those of us who have that setup right now. I never saw an answer or acknowledgement to any of those questions. Nobody has any info on that setup or how these recommendations work for the JBL setup? Or, they got lost in the shuffle?

    THANKS!!

I was wondering like you, but I discovered once I scrolled to the bottom of the page there's a 'Products Discussed in Thread:EASY tweeter...' link to Amazon(at least for me anyways). If it's not there for you here you go:

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PV6F8I2

I'll probably start with just the tweeters myself. It was embarrassing when I was showing-off my NEW truck to a buddy and he made a o_O face when we turned up the radio. Otherwise, he was impressed. Easy fix!

I have a 2019 SR with the dash tweeters. I plan on replacing the tweeters and speakers. With there being a dash tweeter should I stick with the coaxial speakers ? Thinking that a three-way with the tweeter in the dash may be too much high range. Any help/thoughts ? thank you.
