Going to be needing tires here soon, would like an honest opinion on the stock Goodyears, as I'd be willing to buy another set of takeoffs just for the sake of having new rims too, plus I could maybe make a penny considering the price of tires....

How do these compare to Toyo Open Country A/T and the likes? Any other better suggestions?

My driving now compromises of 90% highway, but when I do the 10% offroad, I like to know that they are better than street slicks, plus no truck looks good with slicks lol

Basically looking for a review and then recommendations on a long-lasting, even-wearing AT tire, as I'm hoping this will be the last purchase of tires on this truck before I upgrade to a 3rd gen

can't speak for the 1st gen Goodyears (not sure which they were) but the 3rd Gen ones were pretty terrible.....nice to have soft riding C-load but off road they were pretty useless

Check out Cooper ST Maxx. They’re a hybrid MT/AT that wear well and aren’t too noisy.

I did 255/85/16s on my 3rd gen (it’s been a great way to get 33s on a stock suspension when you get there)

Thanks, I’ll check them out, looking for something that wears good, rides smooth, decent on gas that won’t kill the budget. Looking for the poor man’s city off-road looking tire lol

Currently have Hercules Terra Trac AT for comparisons sake. Just the stock 265/70(or 65)r16. Not with the truck right now and my brain is pretty much shot for the day. They were relatively cheap, I just didn’t keep up with the tire pressure and rotations like I should have. Gotten about 46k out of them and will probably have to replace pretty soon. Atlanta roads are a lot slicker than the south GA ones I’m used to.

If you are referring to the Goodyear All Terrain Adventures, I like mine. They are not popular here with the 'mall' crowd, but unless you have specific need, IE deep mud or very deep snow the tires work fine.

Stock tires are typically not great. If you want a good AT (that will see a lot of highway miles) check out Cooper Discoverer AT3, Falken Wildpeak A/T3w, Toyo Open Country A/T 2

I'm planning on Toyo AT2s once I get more wear out of the stocks. My current stocks are essentially too worn to sell and not worn enough to replace so will keep them for another year or so before switching out.

I have the previous gen Toyo ATs on my Nissan Xterra and have been happy with them. The AT2s are an improvement as well. I looked at KO2s as well but since this is also my daily driver I didn't want to go down the speed rating and wanted something more balanced and the AT2s are good for that.

Agree with this completely. People who trash them either didn't actually give them a chance because the sidewalls are not as bitchin' as KO2s or Wildpeaks, or were expecting them to work as well as a M/T tire in the mud/snow. As a A/T tire that is slightly more suited to pavement than offroad, they are a very decent tire. I have taken them to CO and UT on three different occasions now, and have put them through their paces, and they have performed admirably. They are also very quiet on pavement.

The side walls are pretty flexible though, and I generally don't air them down to less than 22 psi, as they start to flatten out quite a bit below that. At 22 psi, they work very well at maintaining traction. I have taken them down to 18 psi though on multiple occasions (when my deflator wasn't adjusted right) and they have yet to throw a bead on me. I would suggest you watch your line though, as I would imagine the sidewalks would be prone to punctures/tears if you were to drag them across jagged rocks.

I have heard the stock OEM tires do not have the same tread life that the same aftermarket model of tire has, but from what I understand, this is common occurrence across manufacturers and vehicle models. It seems most people are getting 35k miles on them on average.

I have to agree as well. I’m not a hardcore off roader, but these tires have handled everything I’ve done with ease. Our trucks are super capable and these tires are a good fit. They aren’t going to do heavy crawling or deep mud but they handled light versions of both for me. Got stuck behind some traffic on an in icy highway and these tires didnt slip for a second where other trucks were sliding.

They arent sexy and they arent MT but they are good for all around and I’m going to get 55k+ miles on them.

I’ve had a bad experience with BFG in the past and I am now leaning towards Goodyear for the future. (Had good life with some street tires on my old SUV too). I’m likely to go more aggressive this next time, but that’s really just for looks.

I would concede that Kevlar is a gimmick though.

This a good practical choice as well. However practical ain't too popular around here.......sadly.

Very true.. Costco usually has some solid deals on these as well, FWIW.

Thanks for all the input, I ended up going with the Dueler Revo 3 A/T in the stock size. They ride smooth, but I don't think they're very capable offroad
