I need a mag mount but I'm already know I'm going to hate it.
I'm probably going to see you on hooking it up and getting a crash course.

Honestly just running one on the hood has the lowest chance of hitting branches compared to other places on the truck.

Ditch brackets are too far out.
    Bedsides have the same issue.
    The roof is the roof.

You can potentially get a bracket for the cab most Wall of the bed. But due to the lack of metal directly under it, it'll suck ( to a certain degree)

Yeah, just to be clear, you definitely don't have to program the channels into the radio to use these radios. I just found it nice and easy to do it through my computer since I sit in front of a screen all day, versus manually programming it.

Go to Home Depot. Get a nailing plate. Put it in a bench vice and bend a 90 into it. In lieu of a bench vice, screw one end to a 4x4 and go ham with a mallet. Mount one to the tie down rail of the bed, the the antenna to the other.

Has anyone been up on the trail this week? How muddy is it? Do I pack hiking boots, muck boots or hip waders?

My bed rails are gone but I was thinking of something like that.
    I bet it's bone dry.

that or go to a big truck stop. The good ones have a wall full of CB stuff. I bet if you stare at it long enough you will find a bracket that can work. With a dozen trucks we will maybe have 1/2 mile between us? That is well within the range of any hand held.

I have handhelds that will work but I installed a GMRS unit in the truck last year.
Never hooked up the power yet or got an antenna.
I hate going through the firewall.

That comment wasn't in reference to finding a bracket. It's addressing that location for mounting an antenna is garbage because there's not enough metal under it for it to be a good antenna.

I was thinking steel chunk for magmount, not sure where yet though preferably behind the cab if I can get away with it.
I figure if it's lower than my bar less likely to bend/break/fall off.

I have an extra small magmount antenna that came with my gmrs. If yours uses the same end fitting you can have it. I'm running a hood mounted antenna

They're like 16" tall. Shouldn't be an issue

    Sweet, my alignment went awesome!16003695397025936865916000994251.jpg
They actually got it better than they did 2 years ago!
The camber on the right is way better too.
No rub at full turn anymore:bananadance:
    I doubt that's the case when I flex though:rofl:
And they balanced out my worn beat up 35s way better than I got them from @HolyHandGrenade o_O
I've been taking more rubber off them anyway past couple years.

@ecgreen is doing a cool trail ride in October if you're interested Tim.

BTW the before isn't were it was before, Built for the East had to rip everything out and put back and line up old school.
He can do a better job but I told him no worries.
He is getting an alignment machine though very soon.

Check out Southern Vermont Off-road Association on Facebook. They run sucker pond almost every weekend. I’m going to say there are probably muddy spots that are wet all year. Last time I was covered in snow and ice so I can say what it’s like recently
