I got some BFG ko2's about 7500 miles ago. I just NOW noticed that the right side has Load range E's and the left side has load range C's.

Is this bad? Would it affect handling on the highway?

I would match them In pairs front and back. But better to have 4 tires matching!

It's not great, but its not dangerous, just pair them to the front and rear and you'll be fine.

Take them back and get the correct tires.

I wouldn't accept that. Were they installed new at a tire dealer?

Return to point of purchase and have them correct the issue. It’s not a huge deal however it will affect how you rotate tires and affect wear and tear. I wouldn’t imagine the shop would cause too much of a stink about fixing their mistake. However if you ordered online and didn’t check when they arrived then that’s your bad as much as their bad. But should be resolved. Your money, should get what you paid for.

Get them changed, pretty sure the tires won't weigh the same(e rated will be heavier). If you had them mounted at a dealer he should have caught that.

Point of sale needs to resolve so check your receipt and yes they are dangerous as they flex at much different rates and will cause the suspension to react differently so in an emergency situation your handling will basically be a mess. Whatever store allowed that to happen now needs to exchange all 4 tires for a set with similar wear as your 4x4 will also wear from mismatched sizes (if they only want to do 2 you could but a good store will replace all 4). If a chain remember to mention the power of posting your satisfaction online and that you will call the national number and report this. If a small local dealer they will want a good word of mouth so you should get resolution.

weird. agree to put the Es out back and Cs up front for normal steering response especially in emergency maneuvers. probably not a huge deal to run it like that for some time to assess if anything feels off.

The problem with this is that it won't be possible to rotate them properly. They will wear uneven and premature, and probably get noisy (more than normal).

They were purchased and installed at a local, big brand shop. I asked if this would affect handling because the truck has been wandering quite a bit on the highway. I actually just had the truck aligned a couple weeks ago (which, the alignment was a bit off).

I'll go to the tire shop tomorrow to see what they say about it.

obviously but the point here is to just use up what you got and replace with a new set after chewing these down. and rotations are often overrated.

Or, take it back to the shop that installed them and exchange them for a matching set.

I completely disagree about rotation being overrated. I started rotating my tires regularly with my 2015 Tacoma. I put tires on it around 55-60K miles, and traded in at 102K. The used car manager commented about how good the tires looked.

I also put 29K on a set of KO2's and only went through 20% of the tread. They also looked like new (even wear).

ok. but it's tire and driving related and results vary. good it works well for you. i generalized and that wasn't a helpful statement across the board.

    True!

There are probably exceptions here, but I think with AT's and 4wd religious rotation is well worth the effort.

If you make it part of your oil change routine, it's not much work.

You can still rotate front to back and side to side, you just have to do it in pairs.

Hmm.. Good point. This would actually work with how I rotate mine. I rotate differently than normal though, because I'm convinced that reversing direction is the most important thing.

Rotating tires is critical to getting the most out of them. If you don’t rotate your rear tires will wear faster, you will get heal toe tread wear which will increase tire noise, and you will end up replacing the set earlier than you need to.
