Anyone have a DIY mounting brackets for their DIY inflator?

Yessir. The only thing is the stock air hose on the 300P allows air out of the chuck when not connected to the stem. But that chuck and gauge suck.

@Shellshock 's inflator works like a champ on the Viair, but will quickly get a ton of pressure in the lines. So, my recommendation is to pony up to the 400P Automatic, or mod the other models to be automatic. It is cheap as chips if you already have 12ga wire and terminals:

Yeah. Throw out the Viair hose or use it with some standard Industrial air fittings.

I second this. Automatic compressors are so much nicer.

 

Does the 300p have an on off switch? In theory, could you turn it off when it reaches pressure, disconnect from tires, and be good if you bled the air out of the line?

 

Yeah. The non automatic compressors just keep compressing until you flip the switch.

Basically what you are *supposed* to do with the non auto compressors
Connect air hoses
Start compressor
Reach pressure
Stop compressor
Repeat

The automatic ones turn off when they reach 100-150 PSI and will start compressing again once it goes below.

 

I may go w/o the pressure switch, and just switch it off after I reach the desired tire pressure. Might be a little easier and cheaper, especially with your inflator mod doing 2 tires at once. Heck, I could even leave the compressor on and hold the deflate button the the inflator to keep pressure down lol.

I used the 400p automatic and it was a great compressor. My brother still uses it today. I’m currently using an arb portable.

 

Yeah. Running back and forth to the switch was like doing suicide drills in HS. The air hose that I have has lots of compliance, so it would store a good volume of air, but it got annoying real fast.

Give it a shot though. The mod is always there and it is easily reversible.

 

Let me say this about this setup, it's really convenient to air down.....but where this really shines is airing up after wheeling.
Not having to bend down continuously, just stand there and let your compressor do the work.
Had all eight of our tires done with the ARB Twin in no time.

I added a $12 regulator into my setup. It came with a gauge but I didn't attach it and plugged the gauge port. Just set the regulator so you can walk away and when the tires hit the desired pressure everything shuts off. Then just plug in your gauge and fine tune if you want. This way you don't have to hold the air gun or watch the pressure while airing up.
