That’s crazy! Maybe I’ll reach out, since I need to do it anyway, and see what they quote me.

Got mine all done. They did a great job at AA Performance Muffler. Also had them chop off the end of the exhaust as there's no way that thing isn't getting crushed up at some point.

Oh, and it took them only like 40 minutes to do.

How much is AA Performance charging you guys? Their reroute looks so much better than anything I've seen so far. I'm excited to finally have it done, and get some RCI skids on order.

I called the other day and they said $175.

Edit: and the lady on the phone was super nice, made me have a good feeling about this place before I even walked in the door.

Mine was $181 and some change after tax. They didn't charge me any extra than that quote - I had forgot to also ask them to chop the rear off when I made my appointment and they did that too. To me that is a very fair price.

Anyone know a good shop in the springs or do I just need to head up to Englewood?

Muffler Masters off Austin Bluffs. They do great work and did mine. Fair price as well.

Thanks Joe, I'll check them out. Did they do yours tight under the transfer case or swing wide behind it?

If you still have it when I come out there I may take you up on that. I’m tired of having to bend my skid away from the exhaust.

I'm super new to all of this. Been reading a bunch, understanding very little. Are there ANY negative to having this done? I've seen threads about needing a heat shield for this - is that necessary? Sorry for being a rookie - thanks for any help!

Well, we are in the same boat!

I ordered a set of CBI skid plates that don't have the 'bulge' for the stock exhaust, I didn't like it being the lowest spot on the belly of the truck. So I am committed to an exhaust re-route ... just don't know if I will do the behind the tcase or the tuck closer tcase (in the same location as stock).

I am leaning towards the 'tuck' as it seems that area already has the heat shields and won't interfere with removing the tcase (or get anywhere near to the plastic controller).

Ditto what Mike said about the dirt getting trapped. That is one or two downsides to going under the case is that A)dirt will get trapped and cause a rattle/vibration and B)there is very little clearance and when you do smash the skid plate up into the exhaust, youll have to beat it out with the ole trusty 8 lb. persuader hammer. I think when I have to redo mine I will go behind the case but also, like he said, leave enough room to be able to remove your case should you ever have to without the exhaust being in the way.

A&A's most recent reroute I got was really good on the clearance. Easily 1 1/2" - 2"+ between the exhaust pipe and skid plate.

I remember you saying that. I’d need to look at yours. I don’t see how there is room for that much clearance.

To my knowledge, they did not use smaller pipe

I don't really see how you could have that much clearance in that location any other way

Space under is larger than the picture seems. I don't know if he flattened the pipe down or what. But Scott knows what he is doing, and does enough 3rd gen reroutes to have multiple ways of doing them
