Hey guys, always had full size trucks, mostly Chevy's but a buddy talked me in to getting a Tacoma. Bought it new a couple of months ago. It's mainly my fishing rig and I agree it's light and drives thru the sand easy but I'm ready drive the SOB in the ocean. I never had a sluggish truck like this, it makes noise but doesn't go anywhere?!?! I bought the Amp'd throttle deal hoping that would make things better but it wasn't a big improvement. Any performance chip you guys know of I should get????

Welcome, you can do your ovtune research. Very popular and well received. You can probably find someone in your area capable of doing it for you.

How long have you had your truck? I have had my Sport for 3 months now and find it is not sluggish at all. I never use S mode or the tow button. Maybe you just need to take some time to adjust to how this truck runs - just saying

Something that I noticed about mine is the stiff gas pedal, giving the impression that it can be a bit sluggish. Once I press down hard on it though it will get up and go pretty good. I would like for it to be a bit "easier" to press the pedal but it's a truck, so I look at it is meant to be tough.

Thanks, I got frustrated with it and stepped on it hard for the first few weeks I owned it and it seems to be getting better now?!
The Amp'd throttle booster is making a difference to I think.

and here i always thought the hunting was the VVTI deciding and figuring out if my truck is empty or full. 2016 taco, in the fleet since 2016, only now with 160k on it do i discover the tsb-0077-16. Has always gone to the same place for service. but now the hunting and fickle gearing is noticeable to be a concern. toyota dealer says that the TSB is not related to my VIN, the service department asked what is wrong with the truck, so i read the tsb to them, "no' he exclaims you are just reading the tsb....... "what noise do you hear" ...... apt tomorrow so i'll update.

First mechanical thing to check is the transmission fluid level.

A low level can cause the transmission to hesitate when shifting or have hard/abrupt shifts.
