Raptor Takeoffs anyone?? (A) is it reasonable to consider??? Check out these photos of shocks!

Discussion in 'Suspension' started by EngineerTECtreeService, Jan 28, 2020.

?

Would you take half price raptor takeoffs if they had to keep their Raptor Marketing print?

  1. I would put em on a F150 base and drive that thing off of a cliff!

  2. I would rock them and dream to be a raptor as I sprint my tacoma through KING OF THE HAMMERS!~~~

OEM take off shocks in aftermarket boxes. Roush pulled the brand new stockers and installed the Fox Shox pictured in photos one and two in the first post.

Just wanted to post that I got a set of these off Jowett a few weeks back, they are indeed brand new. Was great with communication and quick shipping! I will post when I get them mounted on the truck.

Did you revalve the shock? Or you just going to throw it on and see what happens?

Surprised to hear that, because for me it’s quite the opposite. What year Raptor and what model Tacoma? Even with the TRD Pro suspension, my Raptor feels infinitely better. In addition, my Tundra with 2.5” Kings with Resi’s, Total Chaos UCA’s and coachbuilder shackles...pales in comparison.

So gen 1 raptor with the crew cab and 6.2. In my opinion it was way stiffer of a ride quality, which for street manners I really liked. But my problem was in the dirt, the raptor bucked and jarred me pretty hard. I found even the OME to be nicer for dirt manners. I have run a lot of Tacoma’s from stock to mid travel. And I would take a Tacoma over the gen 1 raptor. I test drove a gen 2 when I bought my mustang and I am thoroughly impressed with the updates.

Yes the Archive towers only works with remote reservoir.
I do own a set of gen 2 Raptor shocks to install on my 1st gen Tundra with my shock relocation.

Make sure you are gusseting the shock mount as these are a bigger shock than a standard Tacoma shock.

A customer of ours installed a Rear Raptor Shock onto his F150 and it cracked the mount after some use and some towing.

Going to run them how they are first, and go from there. Contemplating doing a cantilever set up to avoid any tires rubbing the shocks. Truck is mainly used for hunting, so want to be able to run chains in the rear still.

I wanted to do something similar, but when I talked to a Fox rep, I learned that for the live valve setup for a Raptor, Ford makes the "brain."

They told me that until Toyota works with them to make the computers that control the valves, no Live Valve product from a Raptor will work with a Toyota platform.

    I hope this helps!

I've got that bit working fine enough with pretty cheap off the shelf electronics.

With how I have my rear setup right now, I'd need to re-do at least my bottom mounts to get useable travel out of them, and convert from bushings to heims on the shocks themselves. I fitted them up once, but it really needs to be re-done.
I'm planning to go outside the frame; but as these are the 3.0's, I'm gonna need a pretty big frame notch to mount them up how I want them on a 1st gen.

on a 3rd gen... an archive kit done would about do it.
