Yeah, I've seen this used before, usually metal. You seemed to hit it just right. Regarding XM, doesn't that require a subscription?

I'd like to re-visit USB/AUX for a moment. Does PT546-00120-US terminate in connectors that direct fit the back of the OEM USB/AUX receptacle? It's a 4-pin top for the USB, and five pin for the 1/8" audio. And how long is the cord? Regarding PT233-47100-WH, it appears to come with some kind of ECU, is that what you were referring to in the message from post 11; 9-26-20? Thanks!

    XM does require a subscription. I pay $20 a month (I think).

PT546-00120-US is 6" long. It converts a rectangular USB (like what's in a PC) into a square USB (the square part is what plugs into the radio).

In regards to PT233-47100-WH, you just need the cable. That's the part number I used and I think I even bought it from my local Toyota dealer.

You don't need the ECU, just the short cable, long cable and USB/AUX port. Most if not all of these parts fit a Scion (don't know the model).

Okay, this is great. So if I'm reading this right, what you've labeled "harness currently in truck" connects to the existing 'AUX' harness. Further, what you've labeled "USB/AUX" connects to the back of 86190-0C020, and "to short cable" connects to PT546-00120-US which in turn connects to the back of the radio-. Two separate connections to the radio, one for AUX and one for USB. And whatever is connected is accessed by the AUX button on the radio face. Sound correct? That's quite a bit of sleuthing on your part to figure this out, nice. Thanks!

Yes, for all what you asked. The wires currently in the truck (white connector on new cable retains the AUX connection). The long and short cables add the ability to use USB. You must have the connection on the back of the radio for the short cable to plug in to.

I can say that it works 100%. I can plug my phone in and it will charge and play music from my phone, I can also plug in a USB stick and be able to customize the startup image.

Excellent, thank you. Wondering if you've delved into my next project, rear view camera. If so, I'd love to hear your input on that too. Thanks.

I also added a rear view camera. Luckily my truck was wired from the bottom of the tailgate to the fuse box. I had to buy a camera and tailgate harness and find a way to display it on the radio (the 2012 was originally displayed in the rear view mirror).

Installed a new passenger front fender. I want to install a snorkel and couldn't because the original fender had a big dent in it from the PO.
I also installed a new antenna base while I had the fender off. I was getting static on most AM/FM stations.

Torqued the U-bolts, lubed the Total Chaos upper control arms, cleaned the MAF and TB, cleaned residual oil from a valve cover leak that I had.

Which ultraguage mount did you go with? I like that location. The included cable was plenty long?
