Needs to be a very small child, to sit on the truck dash and keep the brass from hitting the glass then going down the defroster.

Anyone have an aimpoint t1 or trijicon mro for sale? Putting my 14.5 on a diet and either selling my exps2 or my exps3.

Gas block mounting question. Any gunsmith tips on how to verify alignment other than to fire it? I have eyeballed twice in the past and it worked. This time I put a empty cartridge in the chamber and blew air through the muzzle and felt air come out of the gas tube. I assume that good enough. I just swapped out gas blocks and wanted to be sure. Any other tips, tricks or ideas?

Staying tuned, new to the building scene. majority of me experience consisted of 20 and 30 level maintenance in the Army as a 91F (small arms/artillery repairer). If i ever had a gas block issue, I'd just replace the barrel since our M4s have fixed sight/blocks.

If you’re pinning and welding them both anyway there should be negligible difference or none at all, you’d see more velocity difference than anything else.

Flip the gas block upside down on the barrel and look through the bottom screw holes to see if the hole lines up with the gas port.

Check the distance from the gas block to the mounting shoulder with a feeler gauge.

Flip the gas block and align straightness with the top of the barrel and distance to the shoulder with your feeler gauge. Tighten mounting screws.

    Drink beer.

I can't tell you how many people have been surprised when I show them that the rear set screw hole is always in the same spot (180deg) as the gas hole.....

The gas block hole is at least 2x the size of the hole in your barrel. You would need to have it pretty far out of whack to be non functional.
