I have had 3 occasions now that the air in my truck will not work. When I turn fan on, nothing at all happens (heat or a/c). On the first 2 occasions, the air worked again the next time I started my truck up. On this 3rd and last time it happened, the air didn't work for about 3 days. But then it worked fine again on my way home from work one day. Probably a matter of time before it quits for good, so I would like to resolve the problem now. Any suggestions?

I think I'd begin checking fuses, then switch, then fan motor, then wiring.

Look for breaks, loose connections, burnt connectors........

Meanwhile, you probably need to use Ol' School climate control. Roll down the window for cooling, Roll up for less cooling.

Toyota now recommends 3rd gen resistor and connector kit for 2nd gen.

When I had this problem it turned out to be a my power connection to the fan. Passengers were kicking/pressing their shoes against it and caused a short. Figured out it was that by leaving the fan on at all speeds and then moving the connection around and it would kick on and off. Ended up replacing both the fan and power line.

Its absolutely the resistor! Mine was doing the same thing last week. I picked up one from oreiley, comes with a resistor and pig tail. I recommend changing the pigtail as well.

I have replaced my fan switch resistor twice. The first replacement lasted about a month.

Suppose you could elaborate a bit more about this?

    Fan speed checklist.

Fan doesn’t work on any speed - motor connector

Fan only works on high - resistor and resistor connector

Fan works on all speeds except high - climate control panel and connector

I keep an old umbrella in my passenger floor board to give the squirrel cage assembly a big whack when this happens.
