Oh yea my bad should have mentioned we aren’t close enough to the truck to use it as a power source or yes I would totally do a battery bank. I do want to start camping in my shell when I go out hunting but I’ve found out recently that I got some weather proofing to figure out. After a hard rain there’s 3 spots where water is coming in. Either way no way I’ll get any sleep in that with wife and kid so we ground tent camp.

    Same crap everyone else got
I'm wondering the same as you. I was thinking a heated blanket, inverter, car battery or jump box but I doubt the blanket would last more than 3 hours on either of those sources.
Let me know if you find a good solution.

Yea I’m not seeing that as a viable option for my set up. I don’t want to haul a big battery around. I can hook up my heater to a big tank and it last as long as I need.

What's the kids sleeping set up? in a pack-n-play or just on a blow up mattress or what? Sleeping sack or blankets?

...I mean, you could just let him touch it.

My son grabbed my wife's hair straightener exactly one time.

That really happened. But I understand your concern. Unfortunately, I don't really have a good solution to offer outside of carrying a large battery or lots of heavy blankets.

If we put him in a pack n play it’s just a game to show us he can climb out. He has a kids air mattress next to ours. Fleece onesie he has a real sleeping bag and we don’t go out in dangerously cold but my wife thinks he’ll freeze if and when he wiggles out of the sleeping bag.

I agree and if he’s anything like me that’s the only way he will learn, but that’s not a hill I’m about to die on with my wife. I think simple is easiest solution here I’lljust get a dog crate or little cage around it keep him at slightly longer than arms reach away and it will be fine.

Another option my girlfriend and I can fit in this sleeping bag. I bet you could squeeze a little kid in there too. It keeps us plenty warm

Too many to list. I’m lazy
The only thing I can say that hasn’t been said (I think) is a heated sleeping bag that runs on batteries or a heated jacket. Here’s one on Amazon.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!

On the opposite side of things I need to find a way for my girlfriend to not get hot during camping in the summer. Has anyone in here every used cooling blankets?

Thanks everyone, not sure about anyone else but sleeping with a toddler is an oxymoron- the whole point is to keep him out of our bed. That means basically no sleep for me what so over if he was cold would do that for sure but trying to keep him toasty and in his own bed all night.

Haha I was going to go with the ole ... the only way my wife doesn’t get hot is if I don’t go on the trip.
Seriously though good luck if you find one let me know. I can’t stand being hot sleeping so we don’t camp much In the summer. Eventually why we want a camper with an AC.

We gave up summer camping years ago. The high temp has to be in the low 80"s before we even fire up the truck! I'm old though or smart haven't figured it out yet.
