05 x runner in Spring Tx

Anyone have info on the gaskets I would need and oil pan parts. Like part numbers. Should i try and get these new or is used ok?

 

I want to get the parts together so I can do motor mounts, oil pan and headers at the same time.

The cheapest is just to make sure that you always run your oil level at the top dot of the stick. Always.

Look up your engine on www.rockauto.com you should be able to find the Felpro head gaskets.

You can also try Amazon.

 

I read all two pages and don’t understand why this guy needs to do all these mods. I’ve been driving an 06 X Runner for over 50k miles, all stock. I do use synthetic oil in engine and Redline MT90 in trans and synthetic in the rear axle but have driven fairly hard no problems with head gaskets or rod bearings. Look at the pictures wheels look too small. I used stock wheels but went up two sizes wider and taller. Now it looks right and it softened the ride just a little, more sidewall. Raised truck just a little but bigger tires gave it a more aggressive look. I’m at 145k miles running strong.

 

Did you need any spacers to make that caliper fit behind the stock wheels? I'm still running the original (stock) brakes and would like better braking. Are you also running the stock master, or did you upgrade to the Tundra master?

 

Sorry for the late response. I just saw this. I did not need any spacers and they cleared the stock wheels. The brakes are the best thing I could have ever done on this truck. It was the worst part on it for me beside the factory shifter. I have a lightweight flywheel and stage 4 clutch coming in as my stock clutch finally gave out. Strictly street sells the bracket you will need.

 

Thanks for getting back to me about the brackets. I've seen these before, but every truck had aftermarket wheels. I wanted to see if they would clear the stock wheels, so I'm glad to finally see a X-Runner with stock 18" wheels with this upgrade!

I would go with a Tundra master, but that required the owner to come up with some way to install an additional reservoir to make it work. I hate the look of cheap modifications...want everything to look like they came from the factory.

I think I'll just do the bracket, tundra calipers, SS brake lines, and Lexus 360mm front rotors. $2K for a BBK is just too much for my cheap butt...lol

 

That's what I thought too. I am super happy with the end product. I got the calipers from oriellys auto parts.

 

Looks like the IS-F rotors are the ones to buy. Not sure if any other model has 360 mm front rotors.

Was looking at the coated Brembo rotors, but they are drilled. Would rather have solid or slotted.

I contacted Strictly Street, and they specifically recommended the 2012 Tundra 5.7 calipers, and the 2012 IS-F rotors.

No idea what pads I'll select. Will probably look at Hawk, EBC, TRD...

Also need to look at stainless steel brake lines. If I'm swapping calipers, might as well upgrade those too...

I picked this picture, since it has the universal fitting for our Toyotas. Prefer the screw on cap adapter I use with my BMWs. Will buy a better adapter for my Tacoma whenever Motive decides to build & sell one.

 

Got the stage 4 clutch and lightweight flywheel from urd racing. Hope this wakes up the driving.

 

Looks like you have a rear main seal as well. Smart purchase, since you're in there.

Wondering if I should try and save myself some money and try and install this myself. If I pay a shop to do it then that's the cost to buy the solid motor mounts.

 

It's easy to replace.

 

I may go for it then. I did the brakes myself. Did the actuator delete. Just not sure I'll have enough tools but that's never stopped me before. It's kind of my only car now since my daily got totaled. Would not second guess it if it didn't not matter if it sat.
