What are your opinions on bed racks? Looking at getting one. So far, uptop and RCI are top picks.

    Lemme know!

I went with an upTopTruss. Still waiting on it to come in, so no picks installed yet.

Same here. Went with their 10" aluminum model. Worried it was too low but worked out great for our needs.

What tent is that on top? The bed rack looks great. Glad you went with the 10" instead of the 14"? How about the steel vs Aluminum? I'm going to order one today I think.

Desert Armor. Excellent tent and sold by folks that actually use their product. And thanks man. 10"...what you're seeing in the pic is everything I need for 1 or 2 folks for an extended adventure...with room to spare for firewood. I really don't need more storage height. Also like the fact the 10" keeps the tent closer to cab height. Trying to get as much MPG as I can for long distance travel. Extremely glad I went with the light weight aluminum too as I usually end up loading myself while my 10.5 year old is jabbering away. :)

And good luck man. And FYI...there is a current DA tent discussion on the site.

Thanks! I'll check out that discussion now. I showed my wife a pros/cons video of RTTs and she was sold. That sleeping on the ground thing is getting kinda old.

We were in Garner State Park last weekend. Had 3 families approach and ask about the setup. One Dad said "I'll be damned if we drive another tent stake in the ground after this trip". The Mom AND kids laughed but all agreed. This was the same family that arrived around 1am Saturday morning to setup camp. It's all we heard for an hour while they got their camp setup. Total side note but that is the big reason I dislike state park camping. Shut the fark up we trying to sleep here!! We did have a primo spot near the river though.

Hah I agree! My only hesitation is the idea of getting an overland trailer to put a tent on but then requires a bunch of other things...like a place to park the trailer.

I also went with KBVoodoo. I opted for the bed cover brackets though so I could retain some kind of security back there.
