My 2009 Tacoma has 35,700 miles on it. It has been garaged for it's entire life. The frame has substantial rust but no holes yet. My warranty expires on December 1st 2020. Toyota is refusing to replace my frame. Not sure what to do about it. Really like the truck it is a cream puff but the frame is junk. I know I will never buy another Toyota. Would like to share pictures but can't figure out how.

    Start using corrosion prevention.
Owners manual recommends rinsing frame regularly.IMG_20191008_145233266.jpg

Someone said beat on it with a hammer, then have it reinspected and hope they find a hole. I only have 6 weeks left on my warranty

Hammer test is for purchasing an out of warranty frame.
If you punch a hole you get no new frame.

That's the test, though, looking for a perforation 10mm or larger. @Toyo hater, are you the original owner or at least owned it back in 2018 or so? Have you taken it to a dealer for a frame inspection? They should have put it on a lift and done the check at which point it surely would have failed.

It's unfortunate but in this case miles don't matter, rust never sleeps once it starts.

Dealership near me would have failed that frame, even with no perforations. Those guys are dedicated to frame swaps lol

I'd kind of be surprised if they even put it on a lift for risk of it collapsing.

Was inspected by the dealership yesterday. They used a scaler on it and passed it. Two of the pictures are the same spot before and after the inspection.

What dealership is that? I took it to Graham Toyota in Mansfield Ohio. Maybe it would be worth the drive.

There's designated spots they're supposed to check in the campaign. So assuming they followed the procedure then it must have passed without perforation. It sure seems like it would have punched through but if not maybe you're just in that middle unlucky spot.

Also being garaged in this case probably works against you. Rust is more efficient in a warm and damp environment, like inside garages. If you store something inside it's got to be clean and salt-free otherwise it just sits there chewing away.
