I built this thing out of scrap wood. Kept everything stock because I change my mind on a dime. Only thing I removed were the compartment doors for easy access but nothing permanent. I'm also going to add the sterilite drawers and update images later.

Nice! At first I thought you'd conjured up a magic cantilevered shelf. Well, you did, sorta. o_O

That’s a really nice case, had my eye on that but ended up just getting some of these Hefty 18 quart Hi-rise bins at Target. Match the storage compartments height pretty well for stacking larger items on a fairly level surface. Lowe’s Hardware also has them in colors. Fit well.

It's not just the power seats that won't go all the way back. My 2019 SR5 won't quite make it to the last position, but we've got used to do. Don't even notice it anymore.

Next revision was changing out the DeWalt toolbox behind the driver's seat for a plastic drawer. D size is 41cm (16.14) x 29cm (11.41) x 16cm (6.29), so it's a bit smaller than the Dewalt (17.25 x 13 x 6.375). Again, I found I was always having to move the seat forward, take whatever was on the Bedrug off and put it on the seat, pull the toolbox out, and then repeat in reverse order to put it away.

Thanks for the inspiration all - had a plywood platform but didn’t like how hard it was to access my storage bins. Apache (fake pelican) case from harbor freight was about the same dimensions as the dewalt, plus a little more padded for my compressor and deflator. Now I can stack my big cooler and tubs on top :kona:

    Non yet
There are some really amazing ideas in here. I will be picking up my 2021 in about 2 weeks or so... I am so excited, it will be hard to tame my excitement and enthusiasm. I have a small dog that will need a spot back there. I have no interest in keeping the seats and such back there either. I was actually hoping to be able to delete the rear seat, but then I had to give up other aspects that I like more than having a very clean looking area back there. First I need to find some great floor mats (was not a huge fan of the coverage on the OEM All Weather mats) then I will start on the storage.

I was also really thinking about a sub box in the wheel wells where many of you put the tool boxes. I am not looking for a huge amount of base or anything, but a little something might be nice... maybe just on the passenger side since I do not think I will be on that side very often.

These suckers are hard to get.
Ordered twice from different sellers and had them both cancel on me.
Anyone have a line on where to find them in the western hemisphere? It looks like I'm going to have to get them from China :-(

Much appreciated and thanks for the recommendation ZoilaLP!

I'm going to the Container Store, Target and a couple other big box stores this week & I'm pretty sure one of them should stock Sterilite. I'll make a point to seek out this size and see if it'll work for my needs. Whatever I end up using, I'll take pics and post 'em here. You guys rock!

    Editing to add ---> 41x29x16.5cm
Google this dimension and it'll list sellers for the size of storage drawer that sits flush... Thanks E.T.

I like the idea of putting the Viair compressor in the hard case better than how I have mine stored. Which Apache hard case is that?

Yeah it’s much better! Believe it’s the large one, I just measured before I bought.

I apologize for the necromancy, but I am intrigued by this ingenuity. Has anyone tried putting those Dewalt boxes in a 1999 SR5 extended cab?

Nice! This is the setup I want for my SR Utility package. Thinking of building the drawers out of wood and using ball bearing slides. Plan to store tools etc in them and by using slide drawers won’t have to remove whatever’s on the top platform to get to them. Maybe a spring project.

Always better to custom build to fit the space rather than jury-rigging with plastic and yoga mats <grin>.
