I don’t think the 2016 model was sprayed at the factory. I may be wrong but this old mind remembered reading that somewhere.

When I had mine done I was told on third GEN’s they were sprayed at the factory. On second GEN’s they were spraying the inside of the frame not the outside. I saw the spring process done on a second GEN which I’ll share when I’m off the road. it was a horrible job it looked like a two-year-old hand sprayed it on with a squirt gun.

Noted. Thanks. If anyone was to fck this up it would be me.

Nice! This is all great info Brian, thanks. I need to find out what this Mill Bastard File is, I saw it mentioned while researching Axes. https://www.amazon.com/Nicholson-08737-Mill-Bastard-File/dp/B00U6OKR08 Oh! I have a whole set of flat and half round double-cut and single-cut files like this. Some are coarse and some are fine. I even have some that are triangular shaped. How bout' that :humble:

I'll try the vinegar. I'm curious to see if that works. I have some designed for cleaning, like running through a coffee maker. I may just use the wire cup though just to be able to preserve what's left of the Atlas label.

Ok, length........I know it matters to women, or so they say, however, since I have that Fiskars and it's 28" how about something like this, to use with a chainsaw for driving wedges, shaving bark, and for campfires to peel off kindling strips, etc?

    upload_2020-10-22_8-51-0.jpg

But I just can't like a straight handle for these older heads, so I think I am going to go for this 1" shorter bent handle.

    upload_2020-10-22_9-23-53.jpg

I'm going to order 2 of them. One without and one with the octagon treatment. I'm interested to see how that looks and feels. The price is cheap enough to play around.

Then for the other one go with the 36" like you said for all other chopping.

    upload_2020-10-22_9-7-29.jpg

I'm definitely going to pay the extra $2.00 to have each of them hand picked, and the extra $0.50 for no lacquer, so I can oil them. I may throw a little torch action on them to give them that real rustic look first.

Thanks again for all the information. Oh, taking rusty axe heads off old dry handles that were put on correctly......not that easy. I found if I drilled holes into the handle in the eye they were still tough to get off but possible.

    "Baby Strokes"?!

You should know me better by now Mason!

    More like Baby Huey!

Good morning' neighbors...how much do you think I should list my 2nd gen stock headlights for sale for? I was thinking $100 shipped, but would value your opinion. They dont have any damage, and are completely clear...

I’m about to paint some wheels. How many cans of paint did you use? Please break it out in cans of primer, top coat and clear coat. Did you do 4 or 5 wheels?

I did 4 wheels. Bought 4-5 cans of rustoleum automotive primer with filler.

I bought 6 cans of rustoleum Metallic antique bronze.

I used all but one can of primer and one can of paint.

I did the primer first, faces first. Sanded between coats. 2-4 coats depending on how much filling and sanding had to be done.

Then the paint, started with a dusting. Then a second coat. Then sanded and painted over and over again until i reached the desired result. Sometimes that took up to 5 coats.

    For sanding I used 120, 180, 240, 600, and 1500.

The rough grits were for the bare metal. After primer was on the wheels, i used the 600 and 1500 ONLY, depending on how much material needed massaged.

EDIT: AT THIS TIME, I have not done any clear coat. I don’t believe i’ll need to. But that is up to the person doing the job.

What color are you doing @rnish?

I'm going to have to show the results of both to my niece. She wants gloss black wheels but needs tires too.
