Oooh, is that why? Normally they don't have em? I might get/make some kind of rain cover though, in case of rain/snow/debris and whatnot.

Why? It is only to relieve pressure, I don't see anything entering that microscopic pin hole

I’ve seen people add these to their Rotopax. They should work like a blow off valve and pop open in the event of pressure build up. Plus they’re easier to pop and burp the can if you want to do it manually. I just burp the can normally since I don’t have the Rotopax on there all the time. They’re only mounted when I’m on a trip.

Well, seeing as I won't be using it that much, I would be afraid of anything getting in there over time. Also, to potentially reduce sun damage and avoid getting the locks rusty.
Ooh, like those air relief valves on the oil trays and stuff? Maybe an idea, yeah. I plan on having it on all the time, just in case, so I'd like to protect it.

There are fancier options too with stainless ball check valves and whatnot. But the ones above have been used for decades and work fine.

Why would you put something on the roof or hang it off the side of the truck that could get damaged by a tree or a rock wall? Throw the gas can in the bed. Yea people won't be able to see how #EAF one is, but at least you won't have to worry about your gas can getting snagged on a branch or worse leaking all over the roof/side of your truck. My .02

I strap down a 5 gallon jerry can between my bed rail and tool box and leave it at camp when I wheel. The parks I go to are usually in the sticks or I don't feel like airing back up just to go get gas. My truck holds like 12 gallons of gas due to smashed up fuel tank, so most of my aux fuel is for the highway drive to the park lol!!

So, just drill a hole and snap it in?
Yeah, either way, we would need 3 of them, right? I believe you made 3 pin holes.
Oh, huh, we would have to fish it through? I still might add all three anyway, lol.
Yeah, I agree with this. Except for us mall crawlers I don't think we will be hitting any trees or rock walls any time soon. I will also have mine on the inside of a Wilco, so I don't think I will have issues there.

I too never understood the appeal of a rotopax. Nothing beats a steel jerry can strapped down in the bed. Use it as soon as your truck will take it, which for me is usually before I set up camp on the first night if I only brought one. i think sometimes people end up getting in their own way trying to develop peak utility.

Also you might want to get that gas tank fixed...

Yea it was on my summer to do mod list, but then covid happened, I was out of work, my wife got a pay cut and then I moved 13hrs away from my truck. I will be reunited with it in December and it will be the first project in my new place!

What I did with these is I actually applied it to the little center cap, so I didn't permanently alter the can if I didn't like it. Had it on for about a week so far and swelling has been non-existent, I close the seal when parked in my garage and open the seal when it's in my work parking lot since it sits in the sun the whole day.

Edit: Forgot to mention, I just sliced off that little ridge with a razor blade, sliced both sides and little pull with pliers and it came right off
