Shortening a shock

    Anyone done it

    have a ser of standard 8” and want to make em short 8” wondering if the valve bodies are the same height

    yeah i think the OP is missing some information here... my best guess is he has long rod ends on and wants to change them to short rod ends...but i'm just speculating.

    Ok

    i have a standard lenght 8” shock but i need a short body 8” for an LT kit so my question is that if replace the body and shaft can i convert them to short bodies?? Or is the top cap taller as well like someone already pointed out

    I had i similar idea, but was just thinking of cutting the body down in the lathe, then remachining the C clip groove in. But then a deal finally came up on new Saw shocks that were short body, so I went that route instead.
    Alternatively you could cut the top of the coil bucket off and make a new mount to allow full travel of the shocks you have now. I didn't do this since I already had some reinforcement and hoops on mine.

    im confused

    i talked to my girlfriend

    she mentioned there aint no such thing a ‘ short ‘ 8inches

    that a long 8inches is better

    i wonder how she would know ...................
