I figured I've been a part of this forum for a little while now, I'm a little overdue for a write-up of my truck. I've had it for a little over 4 years, and have been slowly doing some light modding to it, but nothing too crazy. Here's my progress as of now.

    2002 Toyota Tacoma
    Base Model
    Extended Cab
    2WD
    2.4L 2RZ-FE, 5 speed W59 Transmission
MPG: roughly 18-19 city, 21-22 highway (if I'm driving like there's an egg under the pedal)
    Mileage: 107,000

    Exterior Mods:
    • Prerunner/4WD powered mirrors
    • Weather Tech Window Deflectors (front two windows only)
    • Weather Tech hood bug deflector
    • LED bulbs
    • 18 x 9 American Muscle Wheels wrapped in 275/35/18 Michelin Pilot Sports
    • golf-ball like denting from hail to help with aerodynamics

    Interior Mods
    :
    • LLumar Windshield tint with UV reflection (keeps the heat down), front windows tinted 20% with factory, quarter panels 5% with factory, rear window 5% with factory
    • Red LED underglow under the dash
    • LED mod in the dome cab light
    • Weather Tech floor mats
    • Scanguage II reading air intake temp, water temp, RPM, and HP
    • Corbeau Trailcat seats swapped out from 60/40 bench
    • Swapped in a used center console and shifter bezel, painted black, with handmade suede shifter boot and aftermarket ball weighted shift knob
    • Alpine CDE-172BT head unit with
      - Alpine S-A60 600 watt mono amp connected to Alpine S-W10D2,
      - Rockford Fosgate PBR400-X4D to JL C2-600 6" Components in the front and RF P1683 6x8" coax in the rear
    • Killmat sound deadening in the doors, and rear of the cab
    • 4 Runner tweeter sail mod with the JL tweeter mounted
    • USB/Voltmeter charger in the dash
    Suspension Mods:
    • KYB Gas-Adjust Shocks front and rear
    • Hellwig rear swaybar with homemade mounts modeled after Beefed Taco's sway bar mounts
    • Energy Suspension front sway bar bushings and endlink bushings
    • Belltech 1" lowering blocks to level out the preload hump in the rear
    Drivetrain Mods:
    • URD Short throw shifter
    Performance mods:

    • K&N "CAI" Intake (did notice a little difference in how the truck managed rpms such as slowing down and not jerking and bumping, but not much power gains, the big and wide wheels don't help much either, but they look better and handle corners insanely well)

I have more maintenance plans in the future (i.e. balljoint replacement and possible rebuilding of the suspension components in the front, fixing a major clunk in the rear diff, and finding some 17" wheels that fit nice, add a little more meat to the tire for comfort and aren't as wide, to try and get some MPG back) but for now it helps me get back and forth to work just fine, and makes a decent cruiser.
