Should I replace the cold air intake that the previous owner installed?

I recently bought a used 2013 tacoma. The previous owner installed an aftermarket K&N cold air intake. The dealership put the truck through inspection before the sale, and I believe they tested the compression, etc, and found no issues. However, the check engine light is always on and I wonder if this is the problem. Also, I think this is responsible for making the engine more noisy, which doesn't really sound good since the exhaust is stock, and it's a pretty gutless 4-cylinder to begin with. Should I bother replacing it with a factory air intake?

I’d see what the codes are that are making the CEL come on.
    Then go from there.
I personally wouldn’t put the CAI on my truck, but I probably wouldn’t spend the money to return it to stock if it were already on my truck.

If the CAI isn’t causing the CEL, I’d drive it and check the filter often.
