You guys really need to step your tool game up. 5/8 socket with a rubber bushing insert and/ or a 5/8 magnetic socket makes quick work of all of your issues.

Anyone know how difficult it would be to replace timing belt on a mag charged 4.0 taco? 2013

The timing chain? It’s not hard, it’s just a lot of work. Have to remove radiator, supercharger, valve covers, all engine accessories at the front, remove front engine cover, line up timing marks, remove tensioners, replace chain, then put it all back. If you’re good and dedicated, it’s one very long weekend. If you’re learning as you go, better make that two weekends.

if by chance you’re talking about the super charger drive belt, once you get good at replacing it, you could do it in 20 mins.

Ah, definitely not the timing chain. The serpentine belt would take about an hour, very easy in comparison.

I seem to have brackets that get in the way of the tensioner and am not sure what they are for. There isn't much room to play with and I'm not sure about slipping the belt on very easily? Any chance you know what I'm saying by its a right fit under there?

Yeah, that would be the supercharger belt tensioner. Two 14mm nuts, one top and one bottom, and one 12mm bolt on the drivers side should remove that(after you take the tension off the super charger belt) then you have unabated access to the serpentine belt. Just take the tension off that, slide it off. Route new belt and replace supercharger tensioner, preferably with new belt there too. I like the gear wrench serpentine belt tool, it’s my favorite.

I got a better one for you boys which is actually really ideal for our setup if you are still using the fan clutch setup, especially if it's a tighter fit in there still. The Gates 91011 tensioner tool set. Comes with 3 different rachets one 1/4" rachet, one 3/8" rachet and one 1/2" rachet. All slim profile, all highly effective.

Just save a set for me boys. :)

Coming from a 1st gen, I know that "oiled" air filters are no good.

Is this the same on 2nd gens?

I have an aFE Magnum FORCE Stage-2 Si Cold Air Intake System with what looks like the blue filter. According to their site, this looks like the Pro 5R "oiled" filter.

Most of us run non oiled. You can switch that out for the PRO Dry S filter.

Oiled filters aren't necessarily bad. The problem is most folks over-oil them, which is bad (i.e., fouls the MAF). A "properly" oiled Pro 5R should cause no problem but, if you're concerned, @nudavinci64's advice is spot-on.

    +1.

Is there a recap of mods for SC owners? I am specifically looking at the supercharger itself. I got a 2013 with a TRD supercharger, 50k miles. Belt is new but I am getting ready to change its fluid and coolant. I offroad the truck a lot so I want to leave the stock air intake. I am sure it has been written somewhere but it will take me a long while to go through all 1622 pages of the thread and if it is something I can do while the fluid is out of the nose I will jump on it.

I like that you can angle the end wrench portion from the lever arm. It allows you to sneak it in to all kinds of places. I’m surprised at just how frequently I use it.

Also a big happy birthday to you!
