Well...I've had COVID for a week or so with relatively few symptoms, so rather than laying in bed isolated from my family, I just quarantined in my garage. I've always wondered how my car would look with black wheels, so I plasti-dipped these to see how it looked. I'm going for vintage road racer. Your thoughts?

    They look good.

I personally prefer the chrome wheels though.

Polished Aluminum, but yeah, I think I agree. There's too much chrome on my car for the black wheels. I think...

Looks pretty good. A dark gray would have been more period correct with a Keystone Mag vibe, kinda like the later model 'Bullit' cars played off of.

Makes a nice change and easy to reverse if you want to later.

It fits the car, ya know? When a large piece of chrome is thrown on an otherwise un-chromed vehicle it looks out of place, but in the case of your Mustang, that is definitely NOT the case.

The chrome (eerrr polished aluminum) looks great.

Beautiful fastback. The polished aluminum works better IMO.

I agree. Honestly, I was kinda trying to avoid the Bullitt references. I get them enough as it is...people always think my car is a '67 because it's a Fastback. Odd.

I wish I would’ve bought an old mustang back before the tryhard “classic” crowd blew up the prices. I remember seeing one was a disc brake conversion nice interior white with blue rally stripes and a 50 V8 conversion. Price was 10 grand and I thought that was way too much for an old car.

Nice! 65? The wheels look good both ways, but the black does look nice with the green. I’ve got a 66 GT with factory disks, 4 speed and center console. Mine looks good but it’s definitely not as nice as yours. I got mine in high school and fixed it up on a budget. As a professional mechanic now I find my self having to almost redo everything I did 17-18 years ago.

The red is when I got it and the most recent photo I took last year. BE33CD8E-F05A-4D60-9599-AC89EEE71F38.jpg 52E4BB43-FA0A-4015-BEBB-B20FBB3448C8.jpg 09AB86A9-3B73-434C-BE3F-97E543EFF615.jpg

Thanks but the OPs is sicker...if I had to be picky I like the glass 1/4 windows rather than the vents. If it weren’t so sentimental I’d trade for a fastback any day!

Polished is too 'blingy' IMO for this era of Mustang. The black (gray) just works way better. You'll not get away from the Bullitt references from the uninformed, especially with those style wheels..
The old man bought a brand new '65 HiPo 2+2, same color as your Mustang. Had that 'Arvinode' exhaust, what a sound from that little solid-lifter 289...:burnrubber::D

I've always liked those wheels in black or a really dark gunmetal color. I'm not really a chrome guy in general though so that might be why.

    Yes. '65. A-Code, 289 (supercharged 331 now), Top loader 4-spd.

You have a beautiful car! I love the color! I wouldn't trade it for anything. I had a 1987 IROC Camaro that I bought in high school. It was all the money I had ($3500 lol), but I put tons of blood sweat and tears into it. Eventually converted it from the TPI to an LT1 with a 6 spd. Sold it to buy the Mustang. Wish I still had the IROC! Don't ever sell.

I like the glass too, but once you go glass, you can't go back. It hacks up the interior pretty good.

I always liked the glass too. A friend still has his original (1 repaint) '66 GT 350 (in green). He bought it in '67 as a bank repo, rode hard & put away wet. Now pristine of course.
I've driven it, pretty hard at his instance, strong & tight! :D
