Adventure4x4's Build - Tundra Conversion

And so the tundra axle build begins...

No one has really documented this process for a newer model so hopefully I can provide enough info to those curious. I know it can be done, just a matter of time and money haha.

I'm starting with a 2008 10.5" tundra axle with the 4.30 gear ratio. I plan on keeping the 4.30 rear end and regearing the front. I have a spare front diff with 30k on it so plan on using that.

 

how much did you pay for that?

 

300 bucks haha. Its perfect since I'll be rebuilding it. I could find some for around 700 but most were clear over a 1000; even over 2k. Didnt want to pay that much if I was going to be replacing most of the components.

Had a chance this weekend to go see where the new Bronco debuted

Not much progress with the axle but managed to finish up the glass and wrap it. Just need to finish up the gas cap. Also bought some new springs for the front so that should allow me more adjustability to bring the front end down about 1-1.5".

 

What did you do to the gas cap?
