    I bought a 2021 Starcraft 20FBS (https://starcraftrv.com/floorplan/2021-autumn-ridge-20fbs).
On paper I should have been good to go with my 2018 Tacoma, but I'm challenged to develop enough HP to pull it faster than 65 mph. Often only 60. And that on essentially level roadway, so I'm looking for methods of boosting my pull-power.

The 1st thing I thought of was a cold air intake and maybe a bigger throttle body. I looked at the TRD cold air intake and they want $500+ installed. But maybe there are less expensive and more productive alternatives.

Has anyone else addressed this issue? What did you do? Does anyone have an opinion on which cold air intakes give the most HP? I truly appreciate any advice you all might give. dhl

Hit the gas and run 3000+ rpm in 4th. On level ground it wont be an issue. You dont have a 5.7 v8. You WILL know the trailer is behind you.

Granted id not want to tow faster then 70 max. Not so much the weight but thats full 8 ft wide air damn.

Also most modern cars are cold air. Getting i shiny intake pipe and cone filter under the hood is actuly a hot air intake.

That trailer is safe for tacoma if loaded well. But towards the top end less your a really skilled driver thats has alot of towing under your belt.

Edited as i said 3rd.... Its late. 4th gear!

Truly appreciate your response and advice. I guess I'll be running in 4th gear a lot. That said, I'm challenged to make 3K rpm even then :)

I should also add I'm rockin' a 6-speed manual tranny

With a GVW of 6000#, you're almost at your maximum right there. Add yourself, the missus, kidlet or two, and everything that you throw in the truck, as well as food, clothing, etc, you're almost certainly going to be well over your maximum. Manufacturer's towing limits are like their fuel mileage numbers; only achievable under absolutely perfect, laboratory conditions. If your towing limit is ~6500#, you should strive to keep your maximum weight to around 4500#.

Ah manual. They have better final gearing. But ya. Small truck. You will never see high gears. Fact of life sadly.

I put my money on 10 mpg. I averaged 10.5 pulling my rental. I was able to hold 5th going downhill once. With a tailwind im sure

The cold air intake will not give u anything other than a cool look when u open the hood. Either re-gear or buy a tundra. The trailer gvw is close to your max. You won’t enjoy the camping experience as much when u are stressed out in 4 th gear pulling a grade
