I'll be coming back but thinking of going through AZ and south CO to hit the Grand Canyon, 4 corners and Mesa Verde cliff dwellings. Unsure of return date as of right now but Last week of Dec, first week of Jan

 

Do you mean Santa Cruz / Scotts Valley?
If so, be careful on the "blood highway" - Hwy 17. So many people not paying attention on that and causing accidents.

Just an FYI- but 4 corners is just a tourist trap- not even located at the actual 4 corners. Everything else you listed I highly recommend.

For what its worth, Death Valley is one of my favorite places and it is worth the short detour
