In the market for a “new” (to me) sled right now. Nothin caught my eye locally just yet. But I’ll wait just a little longer before I get right serious.

3 more days till fleetfarm is having their big sale, Ive got a ice house, a auger, a heater, 2 extra poles, and some bucket lids sitting in my cart waiting to buy.

What are your guys thoughts on rod power? I currently have a medium rod, but I added a med/heavy and a light to my cart. Fish will mainly be panfish, northern, and rainbows. Thinking those 3 rods will cover me pretty good.

Rods are where I spend money. I have a tuned up custom that is badass. I also have a Thorne brothers power noodle for very light bites. I tried the inline reel craze but went back to spinning reels. I fished side by side with no difference. As far as rods go I really like recoil guides with large diameter holes for bucket fishing... Tiny guides for heated shanty. Last I really like fiskas tungsten epoxy jigs. Not sure if you can get this stuff in Canada or not.

Some gear you can get, some you can’t. Was a lot better before the Big retailers like Cabela’s ate all the smaller stores but there’s still a few seasonal ones that open for ice.

So I spent part of the weekend building my hitch for my mini bike. Its made from conduit that I bent into a U shape, then welded to the frame. Right now the plan is to use my dump wagon as my ice fishing sled. I ordered ski's that will replace the wheels on the wagon. I just need to put in studs on the tires so I can cruise on the ice and not fall all over the place.

I also painted the fenders on the mini bike inferno orange :)

Got my wagon skis today, stuck them on the dump wagon and now I have a ice sled for winter and yard wagon for summer. Im going to bolt a few fishing rod holders to it so my rods are not just bouncing around in the wagon with everything else.

Headed out tomorrow and hoping to be lucky. My soft water fishing this winter hasn't been good so hopefully my luck improves with the hard water. We can only use two rods so I have a Jaw Jacker to setup on a hole outside the tent and watch while I jig inside the heat and drink beer.

Got a new ice house the other day, set it up in the living room to see how easy it is to put up and down... damn cat climbed right up the side of and then collapsed the roof... he spent 20 minutes up there till he finally got bored and jumped down. I didnt want to take him down because I knew he would climb right back up again.

Only one all day but didn't get skunked. Nice 16" rainbow with surprisingly good looking meat for a lake fish.

My power auger blew up a few years ago, getting back in the game.

That's what I was using last week. It's awesome to not have a loud, stinky two stroke auger that doesn't want to start up after sitting out in the cold. The strikemaster cut through 16" of ice quickly with absolutely no complaints.

That’s good to hear! Haven’t been out with it yet, but will give it a try this weekend. Didn’t want to go with another gas auger (even though my old one was really nice), this one is so much lighter...
