Hello from Northern Nevada! New to this forum and thought I would introduce myself. I took delivery of my 2021 Tacoma Off Road AC LB on my birthday last week. Heck of a B-day present if I do say so myself. This is my second Toyota truck, my first was a 1978 that I resurected from a farmers field back in 1989. That one was a mess when I got it due to a previous accident, but it ran and after some judicious hammer work to get the headlights pointing in more or less the same direction as the truck, I drove it for a number of years before I traded it off. I beat that thing like a borrowed mule and it just kept running and the guy that got it from me used it hard for many years.

I don't need a truck to double as a family car and I personally think the double cabs look pregnant. I need a longer bed way, way more than I need extra seats as I am not married and my kids are long grown up, hence the access cab and 6' bed. I am going to remove the jump seats and install some sort of lockable storage as soon as I figure out what I want.

One thing I believe strongly in, is driving a vehicle for at least six months before you start to do any modifications. I was in the automotive buiness for almost thirty years and I have seen it time and again where a new owner immediately decides to do a ton of stuff right away that turns out to be superflious to their needs or just looks goofy. Probably the only thing I am going to do right away is bed stiffeners and maybe replace the fog lights with with LED's.

No pictures yet, as a week before I picked it up I tore all the tendons out of my knee and have been on hobbling around on crutches and can't easilly get in or out of a vehicle so no glamor shots of it with a cool background. Believe me it's killing me to see it sitting in the garage and not be able to drive it.

Be sure to do what your ortho / therapist team guides you to do so your recovery will be as fast as possible. Wife is having a knee replacement this week, so I'll get to be the 'in home' therapist as the real one is done with her training.

I too prefer an access cab and a waiting period on the majority of mods. Find out what it doesn't do for how you use the vehicle, then improve from there.

One thing to put on your list of considerations is under rail bed lighting by @mattgecko

No I don't. That was a long time ago back when I didn't even own a camera. The body had a variety of dents and dings as well as bad paint.....overall it was as homely as a mud fence.

Thanks for the suggestion. As for any mods, all in good time. Right now with my knee being a hot mess, I can't really do any work on it so it gives me time to think about what I'll do in a few months when I can get around better.
