I’ve order RCI skid plates for my new Tacoma and before installing would like to install my Funoto oil change valve. Wondered if I need to drain existing oil before adding this valve and basically do an oil change? Ideally would prefer to not have to do an immediate change to save money.

Also what tubing can I use to make the oil not drain onto the skid plate?

And is it easy to change the filter with the skid installed?

As soon as you pull the drain plug to replace it with the fumoto, oil is going to come streaming out unless you do the shop vac trick but unless you've done it before just change it. So you only have to change as much oil as you let out but that's probably going to be super messy. Just drain it, add the valve, and fill it. Don't have to do the filter, just change that and the oil again at the next service interval. Grab some kirkland's synth oil for cheap. And just measure the nipple size or whatever and go to the plumbing section at home depot. They have clear hose in multiple sizes, just see which one fits best. You don't need the hose so that it doesn't drain on the skid plates IMO, it's more so it doesn't gain too much velocity and splash back up when it hits the oil drain pan

This actually works. My dad showed me this years ago when we were changing the oil on my old 1990 Toyota PU. We changed the oil but forgot to put the oil plug gasket on. He put the vacuum on and I pulled the plug and put the gasket on. Didn't lose one drop of oil.
