Thanks for the kind words! I really enjoyed the project. I really want to get this one sold and build another!

The Wetlander shoe coating is just short of amazing! This thing just slides over the rocks. I have to drop the anchor when I beach the boat, it'll slide right back in the water if you are not paying attention. I was skeptical when I was watching the vids for the stuff. It does work and works very good.

I'll have to check into these PRO-LOKS. I don't notice a lot of noise with my rope wrapped oars. I'll pay closer attention the next time I go out.

I loved the offer to be the customer. Thanks! I don't mind being in the center, but I definitely like being in the front better.

My wife and I have a trip planned to head to Montana this year. Still quite a ways from Seattle, though.

Again, thanks for the write up. It's nice to hear from someone that realizes how much effort and soul goes into this project.

    Kirk

    Working on them
I just viewed this entire thread and I like it well done about the drift boat build, I work with several high end Aluminum Welders and one of the first two things they always talk about for getting that "perfect weld" is cleaning the area to be welded with stainless steel brush that is not used for anything else and to "preheat" the metal since I am learning to weld aluminum with TIG they tell me that is a must do no mater what I see it looks like you were using a wire feed system? (much more affordable) and I would like something for my home shop so what system did you use?

Miller 30A spool gun in front of a Miller 250. Straight argon cover gas.

Spectacular thread sir! Found and read through it at work this afternoon. I am in Georgia and we typically run jet jon's(have two myself) here as the rivers are not set up similar to Michigan or western rivers. Both are aluminum, one with UHMW on the bottom. If you build another one I will definitely sub the thread as I enjoy the art of craftsmanship you put on display. Love seeing other trout/salmon fishermen here!
