New to towing the boat this year. Not overly happy with the Highway gear hunting and dropping to 4th gear with slight pedal increases. Has me concerned about the motor and tranny longevity. Any suggestions? Yes I do put it in ECT. And why doest the slap shift work? I could manually keep it in gear if it worked. Anyone else have this issue?

Bought my first trailer today. 8’x 60” PJ dump trailer. Rented a ton of U-Hauls in the past. Pretty stoked not to be so dependent on rentals for my hauling needs.

Dump trailers are super useful to have, too. What's the dump capacity on that model?

It’s a 2.22cu yards with a 5,200 GVWR. it’s really just for small jobs around the house, so it’s perfect for me.

So that's probably like 3000lb dump capacity, then. That's probably more than enough for what it sounds like you'll be using it for.

Just pulled my 4200lb trailer over Highway 190 into Death Valley All 190hp on my quarter-million mile truck were pretty pissed (Truck weights 5300lb itself, loaded) That was kind of a stupid thing to do. What a grind. 4000ft up, 5100ft down to below sea level in under 20 miles. Throttle floored, 3500rpm, 30mph. Very glad to have the transmission cooler.
(Edit: After more abuse over an 11,000mile trip, I ended up having to replace the engine due to a head gasket leak and crappy compression. My trusty family mechanic helped me source and install a JDM engine for about the same cost that doing all the rebuild work would have been.)

2,300lbs of flag stone for the new backyard project. That new Redarc brake controller makes a HUGE difference

Does the new backyard project involve stone work that will attract older women?

Picked up an 86 sunsport at the end of the season. Boat and trailer probably around 4000 lbs. Surge brakes. About 13 mpg on the way home from Vermont to NY. Also have a motorcycle carrier for 500 lb ctx700.

Well the truck certainly can haul ass above 60mph. I’ve found I can truck along just fine at 75mph at 3700rpm, and get better mileage too!

well, most of the time. I am having some issues I’d like help with, please. Truck sometimes get stuck under 3500rpm and refuses to go higher/faster.

not too heavy, but maybe I get some points for originality? ;) a landscape trailer from Canadian Tire with the sides added. 8 lambs at 110 pounds each. I used to tow this with my Forrester, but then the abattoir closed that was 10 min away and down hill, so I bought my Tacoma for the 100 km trip to the nearest facility. Probably would have been a bit much for the Forrester, but my Taco barely noticed it.

I’ll admit that that joke took me much longer than it should have to get. LOL! I completely forgot about the sign on the back.

Anyone pulling a Riverside Retro 135, especially with the 2.7? It’s about the smallest one I’ve found with a bathroom, and since it’s usually just me rolling solo, it would be more than enough for weekend trips to the dunes.
