We made a lower control arm this week in class
All parts were cut after using a template to outline the shapes on the metal and then cut using a bandsaw
Then all parts are deburred and grained then we bend them to the needed angle
Some are 90 some are like 88 and the center rib is a compound of different bends,

we machined all the uniball and bushing cups by lathe
    And then we assemble.
Grading is supposed to be done once all parts are tacked in place.
They don’t let us fully weld it for grade but when I get time I’ll go back and do it for the practice.

If you look real close there are a handful of things that would make this a junk part.
They flat out told us nobody would have a perfect arm because they intentionally build it out of spec so nobody tries to take it home and install it on something.

apparently a lot of the projects we will be making are intentionally off in some spot or another to discourage use of the item on your vehicle haha

Makes complete sense why they'd do that. They're just teaching the method so you can walk away with the skill and knowledge

main page photo index/timeline updated to current.

2020 was a poop year and a lot of financial loss and redirection for almost everyone i know including myself.
at the end of the year there were a lot of last second situations that just played out for a cruddy finally to the year.
the start to my 2021 thus far has been an attempt to recenter things, get the train back on the tracks and prepare to "rebuild" so to speak.
I am not sure when i will be able to have fab start on the truck again because i still need some time to recoup my finances so i can make a more solid next move.

I am looking forward to good things and a good journey
