I still haven’t looked up the ARS to see, but I have passed by several GPD officers and they didn’t seem to even bat an eye.

    Resurrecting an old thread.

I have two strands of 100 (200 total) on my truck right now but the lights only work with the bed power inverter while in park or neutral. If the truck is in gear the lights won’t work off the inverter at all but flicker for maybe 1/10 of a second.

Has anyone else experienced this too? I would think if it was drawing too much power then it shouldn’t work while in park.

Maybe it’s the multiple stands causing an issue?

    Any help is appreciated.

Led lights? Or are they halogen?

I think I've used both and had no issues

I don’t think the bed plug works while moving. There’s an anytime 400W mod available if you want to do some plug and play wiring.

At least, that’s my assumption about the bed plug.

Halogen. I must be drawing over 100w

I may have to check that out. Apparently on my 2015 max while driving is 100w.

I did this the year before last but don’t recall having issues while driving.

Maybe I only used one strand?

Not sure on the 2015 like he has, but 2016+ it works all the time, it just switches to 100w while driving and runs 400w while parked.

Well there you have it... guess I must have it confused with the ‘I want 110V with the truck off’ crowd.

Probably the muli-color lights. Be safer to stick with white lights or some color that is not red or blue.

    :santa2::santa:

Had a little tail left over. Strings to the front if the bed rail then doubled back to the tool box lid - can open tool box with lights like this.

Tail was about two inches short to reach to the other side again so just tucked it up on the side to keep it from flopping around in the wind.

Anyone run a usb set of Christmas lights? Think I could simply crack open rear window then route to the roof rack.

I recently got a back-flip cover, need to figure out a way to mount lights up again.

anyone else with a bed cover and lights mounted?

I have a Lomax TriFold on mine. It actually helps to keep the lights in place. I just plugged the string of lights into the bed outlet and then used the corners of the cover as anchors as I ran it around the bed. Then I pushed the wires under the cover at several points along the side just for added stability. I've taken my truck on the highway at 65+ with no issues.
