Wonder if that would work for the smell of northern pike... those things smell up your hands and it sticks.

Got a text today from the guys I went fishing with last night, they were heading out again tonight. So I went along, but this time I took a bottle of fireball with me :)

We saw plenty of massive fish, but no bites. The beavers and muskrats were everywhere though. But the wind was way too strong tonight, so I couldnt cast out to the open water and was left just jigging on the other side of the bridge, but even that was hard cause the wind would take the line and pull the bait right out of the water.

Also in the dark I stepped on one of my rods and bent the eyes :( I got them back in place, but they got some road rash now.

Today I am trying to get rid of the river mud stink from my hands... I took my magnet with me, but all I got was the remains of the old bridge that was there... so lots of rust flakes.

Best thing I have found was a ice fishing ladle... Otherwise its just been nails, bolts and bottle caps.

Well its dance night for my daughter! That means its time to wonder around walmart for an hour waiting for class to finish up.

Will be nice to see if they have any more ice fishing gear out.

Well dance got canceled because our state decided to shut down again... went to walmart anyways, got some small swim baits, elastic strips to mount my rods with to my bag. They had a 6 foot pistol grip rod, took everything in my power to not get it... the whole thing I like about the pistol grip is that its short and easy to swing around, so I will stick with my 5,6 pistol grip. Plus I still have more baitcasting rods and I have reels for them.

I never like pistol grips. No leverage.
    Sorry about the dance.

I love my pistol grip, but it always feels like I am going to chuck it across the lake when I cast. I do need to order 4 more baitcaster reels though to outfit the rest of my empty rods (3 if I keep my right handed reel)

Dance ended up being a zoom meeting, the teacher had the gain on her mic cranked up, so her mic was clipping to all hell and my daughter couldnt hear her at all. She said it sucked.

So I want to revisit this as I have been playing with different ideas on how to make this happen. I got some elastic straps that would need to be sewn in, I got some velcro (was too loose), then I got to thinking.... I could use eye holes! I could put 6 to 8 eyelets on the sides of the bag, then I could just lace elastic string like a shoe, tie off the ends and put one of those sweatshirt hood plastic things that hold the hood strings.... I could use some paracord in there to create a pocket at the bottom to keep the rod holders from sliding out the bottom.

My mother inlaw is the one who sews, but she now got the rona, so I dont want to bother them for at least 6 months with sewing in something.

Got bored today, picked up some shelves from fleetfarm (was also looking for 2 specific rods, but they only had 1 of them) I cleaned out a area near my water heater and hvac unit in the basement to build out a temporary fishing room. Once I get my storage room cleared out, that room will be turned into a fishing room, I plan to put some of my bigger fish tanks in there and fill them with bait. Nothing better than having your own live bait setup in the basement.

Also while at fleetfarm, I found some left handed baitcasters, they were silver and I didnt know much about them, but I did some research when I got home and I need to go back and get 1 of them. Its a abu garcia silver max, the feature that I want is the rocket clutch. Gives you a thumb control on the freewheeling, so I can engage and disengage the spool with a single hand... so thats going to go on my pistol grip as thats a very 1 handed rod.

Got a text this morning from my friends over at the river, its 50 degrees out and they were heading out to do some river fishing. I had to pass because I was having some bad leg pain... glad I did, about 30 minutes after telling them I wouldnt make it, my back seized up and now im hopped up on muscle relaxers on the couch.

Sad I didnt get to fish, but glad I didnt go out just to throw out my back on the river.

Ok so I did it! I put in some grommets on the side of my bag and then used some paracord to lace it up to hold my travel rod. I am going to swap the paracord out for some bungee cord when I can find some... Joann fabrics looked like a third world country when I went in to get the grommets, so they didnt have much for bungee cord.

The rod I am using was a christmas gift from my wife, its a 4 piece spinning rod that I can bring with us on vacations. But I can put any 2 piece rod in here or my net. I was going to put another holder on the other side, but I think for now I will work with just the one.

My daughters dance class is back! So its time to hit walmart again every tuesday!

I picked up a bunch of bitsy minnows, trying to make a nice ultra light kit for ponds and creeks. Here is the hard bait selection right now (soft bait selection is small tubes and grubs). Im going to try to fill out the rest of this box this weekend. BTW, if you have never used a shallow 3600 box, they are amazing! 95% of my lures are small enough to fit in a shallow box, and I can fit 3 shallow boxes in the same space as 2 normal 3600 boxes. So when I load my big tackle bag, I can put 6 boxes instead of only 4.

    Bottle cap for size.

Somehow I convinced my family to go to cabelas with me on sunday.... I got me a 6 foot 2 piece baitcasting rod to match my 6 foot 2 piece spinning rod that I keep in my truck with me. Also found the plano 3600 worm case (they had the 3700 too, but my bags are not setup for 3700s) I can fit 8 bags in the case along with about 16 jigs, and a bunch of those stuff.

Kids ended up having some good fun, my daughter loved the place and wants to go back! I got them both cap guns and my wife is having a panic attack because she is so against guns. Im going to plan another trip with them all this summer when there is more summer fishing stuff out there.

Hit up walmart again, they had tip ups on sale. So I grabbed 2 and some new line for them. Got a nice ice fishing trip planned for next month with 3 guys from highschool. I have not seen most of them for 10-15 years (1 moved to Washington, 1 to Colorado, 1 up north). I do need to pick up a ice house before we go though. Right now we only have a single 2 person house. So I think this weekend I am going to go see what I can get in the 4-6 person area.

More walmart... but this time a different walmart. Cats were out of food, and the store that sells it is right next to walmart!

So, got myself 2 more baitcaser socks, should of gotten 3, but I miss counted my rods. But I also got the lunkerhunt frog combo, its 1 normal frog and 2 "pocket" frogs. The 2 pockets are going into my pond kit and the big frog is going into my normal fishing bag. I was mostly looking for just the pocket frogs for my pond kit, but they didnt sell just the pockets.

Im getting myself all hyped up for spring fishing and I have not even gone ice fishing yet this year.
