I know this is probably beating a dead horse but anyone have any real world experience running 285/75r17’s with out regearing? I plan to eventually when I can afford it.

May have better luck searching or posting in the “285/75/17” thread lol. I mean, this is a 33 vs 35 thread...aha

Thanks I’m just on the fence, thought I’d ask for some real world input. Might stick with 285/70r17 since that’s pretty much a 33

    what offset wheel? Looks good!!!

yes I know you are lol. Hence why I said the literal thread titled “285/75/17” would be better considering it’s literally filled with people running the tire you’re specifically asking about...

My polite way of saying to use the search function or make your own thread so this one isn’t derailed aha.

Much later than the original post, but... I decided to go 285/75/17 (~34"). Not the best pic, but just one I snapped on the trail. Full armor front/rear/skids, body mount relocation, BP-51's, regearing to 5.29 next month. Super happy with the setup... until I find the next thing I want to doIMG_2711.HEIC.jpg

Which bumpers are you running & what's your suspension setup?

    When I was wheeling/crawling a lot I always wanted 37s because aired down they're like 35s.
It looks like you have a nice setup there.

I think 285/75 is a great size choice for the Tacoma’s. Just do a CMC and UCA’s. Fits perfect.

33 Skinny tires for us! Haven't found a need for 35s at all here in Colorado. When I find something that the 33s can't handle I will consider 35s but at that point I will GO BIG and try 37s ;)

    Then the regear will happen!

I wouldnt go pass 33's personally. the only thing i can see needing 35's is some extreme offroading, but then you have to do alot of cutting.

I don't know if someone mentioned the Kenda Klever's yet, but they're one of the better (if not best) tire I've ran.

35x10.50x17. Fits with CMC and proper alignment. I still have my fender liners in.
