Hey everyone! On my 3rd gen, there is some wind noise that doesn’t sound quite right. When I am on the interstate, there is a bit of a hissing sound coming from the upper portion of the drivers side door, almost like the window is just slightly down. It is not the kazoo sound people talk about. I’m fairly sure it is something to do with the door seal. Has anyone else ran into this? If so how did you fix it?

I have the same issue. Just turn the radio up louder. :headbang:

You could replace the door seal.

Are you sure the hissing is from the door seal??

Check window run channel molding for tears and folds and make sure the window is going up straight.

I'm not sure. I'd start by check for any moisture inside the vehicle (could be leak letting air in)

Not completely sure no. If I press on a certain part of it the noise seems to change, but I suppose it could be just blocking the sound better.

If the seal looks good, check to see that the window frame part of the door isn’t tweaked out a bit on the drivers side (compared to the P/S) Sometimes the solution is as simple as rolling the window down, putting your hip against the inside of the door and giving the window frame a gentle tug to bend it inwards a bit.

I had this same problem. I located the noise with some tape to find exactly where the leak was. Mine ended up coming through the mirror mount. I took the mirror off and added more weather stripping and it fixed the problem.

I had issues since day 1. Told the dealer every 5K service and called Toyota USA. They never even acknowledged it, just said we will look at it next time. It’s louder in the cab than my ‘86 with a broken window regulator. I hope the rest of the truck isn’t as fucked.

Mine sounds like it comes from around halfway down my door, toward the rear of it. Sometimes I notice it and sometimes I don’t. Just got mud tires so I probably won’t notice anymore lol

I have the same problem, I can hear the sound of the car next to me, louder than my stereo system...Just found a site in internet about a marine seal gasket that might solve the problem.

This sounds like a good possible remedy. A few decades (almost) ago I took my first ever new truck in for a wind noise like you describe, and they fixed it real good..no more noise but it wasn't until some time later I noticed it looked like they put a couple of pair of pliers on there and tweaked it! I understand your truck is new, but I keep door seals cleaned then lubed with silicone spray.

I have a 3rd gen and have a ever so slight noise on the drivers side. I don’t even need to be moving and I hear it if the wind is blowing. Window up or down, doesn’t make a difference. I’ll clean ‘em and lube the seal and see if that helps. I’m not comfortable messing with the mirror.
