Got it bolted up this morning. No real issues after letting the PB blaster soak for a bit. The threads on my trouble bolt did have some damage, it screeched on the way out.

Brake lines were tougher than I thought but still bent with bare hand, less than 2 hrs total install time.

Maybe I missed something but I can’t get this to line up I installed the center bottom bolt first. This is passenger side. Haven’t touch the driver side yet. Any ideas what I’m doing wrong?

    Got mine on, thanks guys!

I think if I had thrown a little more OCD into trimming the passenger side connector bracket that I could have gotten it installed with both bolts in the original spot. I had just enough room to get it in the stock location with just the forward bolt. Whatever, it's on there. Some quick Dremel work made the plastic cover fit.

I spent about an hour cursing the sky because the 3/8ths bolts "weren't long enough". There was a pebble I couldn't see in the frame rail under the washer

Started installing mine today. My passenger side has a gap in the rear between the bracket and frame where the rear-most 3/8" bolt goes.

Everything else lines up perfectly. Just thought I’d check if this is common/acceptable or if I should take it off and try reinstalling.

If it’s not too wet tomorrow :) I’ll go out and check mine, and let you know.

    Thank you, I appreciate that!
As I started tightening the other bolts down the gap actually closed up a bit, but there is probably still about 1/16-1/8". It looks like it might be slightly hitting the rivet which is causing the gap.

With everything tightened up I don’t expect it to be an issue, but just want to make sure I do it right.

It’s been almost 5 years since I put ‘em on and I remember some tighten/loosen/tighten as I adjusted them but it was pretty easy. I also can’t remember if I re-torqued everything after a while, but they’ve never loosened up.

‘Thanks for the info. I guess it’s time to find a grinder.

Installed the driver’s side slider today and had that same small gap at the rear most bottom bolt. Not concerned about it since everything lines up perfectly and flush. Some of the 1/2" washers started caving into the holes in the frame so I may add a few extra bolts to the smaller holes that don’t have hardware. I’d have to double check, but I think I ended up using 6 1/2" bolts and 1 3/8" bolt on each side.

Hi, I checked mine but got distracted about replying. I have the same gap and I like I said, no issues with loosening or deflection in four years. If I remember right, I did use Loctite. Though to be honest I’ve only actually “used’ the sliders a few times. Mostly just a few weeks ago up in Goler Wash and on Mengel Pass in Death Valley.

+1 on the small gaps at the 3/8" bolt location on mine. I briefly considered shimming it with washers to prevent the bolts from taking bending loads, but decided it wasn't a significant issue.

I went up Goler wash to Barker Ranch on 11/18, but chickened out of doing Mengel Pass alone in a 3 week old stock truck. I'd love to go back with a group to apply some peer pressure.

I have put off trying it for years and finally went up a week before you were there on the CA 4WD Association’s “Escape from Death Valley” trip. Highly recommended. My truck is 6 years old but stock and the sliders got put to good use.

Thanks for the feedback guys! I came to the same conclusion that with all the other mounting points it shouldn’t be an issue. My OCD might make me swap out the washers that caved in though haha

Here’s a pic of them installed. Very happy with these sliders. Not so much with my paint job . I got a few paint runs and chips from installation that I’ll be touching up.

Anyone have detailed insights on which bolts HAVE to be installed inside/out vs. outside/in?

figure out the question above, but not I can get the center bolt in the lower frame to gain any traction when re-installing
