How do I carry all of my shit on a 2020 TRD Off-Road Double-Cab short bed?

10’2” surfboard. Currently use a hitch extender
    Pedal bike.
    (Future) Kayak
    1 x Shaggy dog
    Yakima road shower
I fill the bed pretty regularly with mulch.
And camping. Be nice not to set up a tent every night...

    Playing with ideas:
1: Truck cap/inflatable mattress. Get a trailer for mulch
2: bed rack for gear & teardrop trailer for me
3: overland rooftop tent. Gear on hitch extender

Planning another cross country trip in the spring. I’d prefer not to be towing anything. And I hate the idea of enclosing the bed (otherwise, why did I buy a pickup). Do I need to adjust my expectations? Gimme some great suggestions Gentlemen. Thanks

You trade it in for a DCLB.

Because of the things I carry, I insisted on a LB. The dealership suggested a SB, and to be honest they had many more of those - as it is the more popular choice among Tacoma owners. I can understand this, since it makes the truck more nimble when off roading or navigating urban areas or even the parking lot.

Cap on bed and make a sleeping platform for a mattress(hundreds of ideas on here depending on how elaborate you want to get). Kayak and surfboard on cab/topper rack. Bike on a hitch mount. Small utility trailer for mulch and other crap.

I’m a long bed, so sleeping in your short bed might be a no go. But I have very similar needs for my truck. I love the softopper because I can camp/sleep in it and keep things dry and dust free. I put bikes on a 1up hitch rack, and the roof rack hold boards and kayaks. When I need to haul dirt/mulch/large or tall loads I can fold the topper forward by myself in less than 2 minutes casually.

it’s also possible to get a wedge style RTT on your roof/bed rack (some also work with a topper, with load bars for carrying surfboards and kayaks. This solves the cramped sleeping short bed problem.
