I have just the one sub and with the Pioneer DMH-6600NEX, it is 1,000% better than the ENTUNE HU. I was so angry that Toyota puts this crappy HU in. But to @oemaudioplus, please give it a try - The new Pioneer HU's make your system improved a lot. BTW - Reference 500 with the one sub is fantastic. I do have bass set high but its a crisp punch from the sub. Zero distortion!

Go check out all of us with OEM Audio systems in this thread - https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/new-pioneer-dmh-wc6600nex-flush-mount-install.668580/

I have just the reference system 500. It has 40 watts going to each of the speaker corners = 160 watts there, and 4 x 40 watts of rear signal going to the single 8" sub = 160 watts (320 for the whole system) and its very impressive for what it is. It won't annoy or impress people at stop lights or parking lots. But in the the truck you hear and feel it. It's sufficient for what I need. I can only imagine how the dual sub set up would be. The single sub with reference amp or dedicated sub amp ( I think that is 300-320 watts directly to the single 8" sub) will be plenty for 80-90% of people, at least people who use their tacoma's every driver and multi-use.

The single sub still shakes the heck out of the rearview mirror for sure!!

Again I am on the demo list for anyone in the OMAHA NEBRASKA area who wants to listen to this system in person. FYI

Yes - Both myself and @svermilyea and many others, per the other DMH-6600NEX thread; do have this configuration. It is very nice! I followed svermilyea from the android HU which was a whole new experience.

How do you get on the official demo list? I have just been riding around town and asked people if they want to see my tweeters. (Just Kidding) that would be weird.

I have posted this a couple times before: With a little patience and a lot of research you can beat the OEM Audio Plus package for less money. However between the ease of installation, the plug an play setup, and a fully tuned system, it was not worth my time to build my own custom setup. This system is first rate. Take a little time to throw some dynamat in your doors behind the speakers and it is beyond great. Soup to nuts, this is about a 4 beer install for the 6600 and the OEM audio plus....if it is hot, maybe 5 beer

Hoping they come out with the JBL version real soon as the factory JBL is meh at best. I have reached out to them a couple of times via phone and email with no response :( I had there full system in my 5th Genene 4runner and it was a complete transformation!

I just offered it to them when i ordered because there seemed not to be anyone in my area with this system or dealers that were selling it, i could not sample it before i pulled the trigger. So i wanted to help others before they hand over there hard earned cash they this would be something they really want and happy with.

Does anyone else in the Charlotte, NC area have the Reference 500 system with the dedicated sub amp for the 3rd gen double cab? I installed mine about two weeks ago and am having an issue with noise and sound quality, particularly from the sub. Working with OEM Audio Plus on it but being able to compare to another truck with the same system would help with troubleshooting. Thank in advance for any help.

What’s the difference in the 450q and the 500q minus the 64 bit amp?

I've had a number of 4 series and X4s. Totally worth it.

Pardon my refusal to read through 7 pages...

Can anyone chime in on the ‘bang-for-buck’ over the factory JBL system?

    please and thank you

Is there a noticeable difference on the sub when the seat is up or down?

No i tried seat down for little bit, i didn't notice a major difference. i always drive normal with seat up. Just added a child seat to the middle rear seat. no difference in sub quality or output.
