Later this December, my friend and I are gonna be installing some aux. reverse lights to my Taco. First, we thought of having a relay and using the stock reverse lights to trigger it, but then I might risk blinding someone on the street.

    We now have 2 options:

    - Aux reverse lights relayed to the stock reverse light WITH an override button (ooh, fancy--but with a lot of wire, hassle, and extra work)
    - Just use a plain switch and switch them on manually

IDK . . . I've been thinking about both options and can't really decide. So I want to hear the community's advice.

    Just a switch.

I had everything set for the triggered by reverse plus rocker override - then thought about when and where I would need it. Wiring direct with an on/off switch means wiring is simple, with little to no chance for issues. Plus no annoying blinding people in the mall parking lot.

    Nice! I like it!
I found a video on YouTube that did something like yours, except the relay was hooked to the tail lights.
