    Has anyone installed a halo 9 in a 2ed gen 1.0?
I got a 2008 and I want it for milage and speedo as well. My gauges are way off since I did my re-gear

I have had my Halo installed for exactly 1 year. I hate it. I have a small library of video footage chronicling its problems crashing, not starting, freezing, mysteriously loosing steering wheel function, randomly disconnecting my phone and generally being a piece of crap. DO NOT BUY

Interesting. I've had mine for about that long too and have had almost zero issues with it. Are you sure it's the Halo9 and not the Maestro unit? What firmware version are you running on it? I've had to pull my maestro unit out a couple times to update the firmware because of the experience you've been having. It would randomly power off and the steering wheel controls would not work until I shut off the truck. I'm running v3.1 and it's been solid. There's a newer FW version out, but I haven't had time to pull the maestro unit out and update it.

Has anyone done a write up on this when installed. I am looking to upgrade my system and looking at the Alpine Halo 9, and wondering what is all needed to install this?

If you want the easy button, there's a kit special to the Tacoma that has all of the bits you'll need (Maestro, dashboard kit, GPS/USB adapters, etc...): https://www.crutchfield.com/p_500ILXF3TC/Alpine-Halo9-ILX-F309TC.html

No - it's just a Micro USB cable. I think it came with it, or I had one laying around. If you have OvTune, it's the same cable that comes with the OBD device that connects to your computer. It's a PITA to update because you have to pull it all apart, so I've been contemplating getting the RR2 which will supposedly be able to be updated wirelessly. I also tried leaving the USB cable plugged into it, but as long as it's plugged into the car/Halo9, it won't connect to my laptop.

Bought my truck which had the F259 in it. Having an issue with the call volume being extremely low. Both bluetooth and through android auto. It's so low in fact that I can barely hear anyone when I'm actually driving it. Having long commutes this has become problematic. I had to pull over and grab my phone a week or so back when work called that I had to take. This one detail is killing me.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Buried in the sound settings (at least on the F309) are input gain settings. You can adjust each input (BT, AUX, Radio, Phone) there. There's also a gain setting buried in the Maestro specific settings. I know that's a little vague, but hopefully it points you in the right direction. I don't have the ability to go out and fire mine up just now.

I will go and check those. I know on the sound settings under phone I have the speaker volume for incoming calls at max.

Went through every single sound option tonight. Couldn't find anything that helped. I may have to look into a different head unit. I drive too much to not be able to take phone calls.

Odd - I know we're talking about 2 different head units here, but I would think they'd be similar enough. For mine, it's under Setup - Sound - and there's a "Sound Source Volume" option that will bring you to another window to adjust levels. If you don't click the "Sound Source Volume" there's input volumes just below it:

    PXL_20201223_031612124.jpg

Also, make sure the volumes are up on your phone too. I know on my Android, either via Android Auto or just over BT, I'll notice the volume is low and remember to volume up and that fixes it.

    Good luck!

Alright, I found an advanced option for Carplay but not AA. I may spend some X-Mas bonus on a new head unit.

new phone ;), ill have to have a look as i have a 259 as well and have no issues using the phone i dont even have it cranked i think i have it set to a 7 or so ...

    http://support.alpine-usa.com/products/documents/OM_iLX-F259_EN.pdf

but looking at manual as well when you are connected with just the phone app you should have independent phone volumes

the only other thing it may be is, take deck out maybe a connection isn't hooked up correctly?

Sadly, looking through the manual I'm not seeing anything new/anything I haven't seen.

I think I'm up for a new phone upgrade in February but I was going to skip it since I don't like how big the latest phones are.

Alright, after playing around with it. Unpairing/repairing etc. it now shows an in-call volume for the iLX-F259 while on a call (it didn't show this prior). However, it's greyed out. Any ideas on this one?
