That is what OT is for...... OT for the last 2 years paid for the truck.. paid for nearly $10k+ in mods and camping gear... I'm almost at the point where I am happy with the trucks performance.. now its just upgrading, and refining.. truck is 2.5 inches taller than this pic.. Dobinson MRA coilovers, and JBA UCAs. just ordered CBI skids, and N2Designs remote start going in today on my lunch break. once I am hapy with the truck i'll focus on paying off the trucks loan.

Unless you want to keep the truck for sentimental value I recommend trading it towards something you want.

The first Gen is definitely being kept for sentimental value. I was only considering keeping the 3rd Gen as it’s mostly paid (3k left) and a new 4Runner is very pricey.

I would sell it and put the money towards something else. Bills, mortgage, investments, retirement etc.

Well the 4-cylinder tacos definitely aren't the quickest vehicle but the 4-cylinder is pretty reliable so if you want to hang onto it and have a reliable modern vehicle I don't blame you. That being said a mostly paid off third gen would be a large down payment/trade in on a 4runner.

I'm 38, but looking heavily into retirement right now.. I can retire at 55 and I have seen a few co-workers cringe when they see what they are going to make upon retiremnent (ours is based off years of service (2% per year of service... so minimum 25 years of service is 50% of your highest earing 4 years (must be within 10% of each other - so far I'm looking at a pension based off my highest 4 which range from $84-94k, and when i hit reitrement age I will have a total of 29 years of service so 58%).... 2 years ago i started a deferred comp and am up to $12k already (was only doing $120/paycheck (biweekly).. and after my last look at it.. this week I started a Roth IRA.. I plan to invest more with each pay increase until I retire. based upon this and my state employee retirement, and healthcare plan I should be well off.

    Hi Ed,
I had the URD MK3 w/Stage II pulley installed on my '16 2.7L 2wd Accesscab at 44k and now have 68K (I like it). Your goals for doing the swap will make all the difference. I live in Prescott, Az and drive around Phoenix with no overheating during the hot summers.
The break-in is important to get the new parts friendly. As said in earlier posts; the S/C won't perform like a V8, but it is a nice healthy upgrade in HP and drivability.
The 3rd Gen auto trans shifting can drive you crazy so if that is acceptable to you, I'd say keep the truck. The 4.3 ratio stock rear gear reduces the effect of the S/C significantly, as the S/C kicks in nicely after 2500 RPMs thru redline (I never drive it near redline, 4500 RPM OK). A 4.88 or 5.29 rear axle would make this setup ideal and I don't believe mileage would suffer because 5th & 6th OD gears in the trans are way too deep.
    Any further questions, just ask.

*Check to ensure this mod is acceptable/legal in your state. It's not in Ca.

Thanks. I’m 7 years to minimum age retirement and 14 to mandatory. Have a 401k as well as the pension.

Thanks. This is exactly what I was looking for. Someone who actually installed the SC. Good to hear it worked out for you. Once I receive the the title from NY, I will get it registered in VA, drive it a few weeks and make a final decision on which vehicle(s) to sell and which to keep.

    Just a heads up...
The AC60 behind the 4 cyl is a light duty application. The one behind the 6 cyl has more friction plates in the clutch packs.
