Rust colored flakes

    Just bought this 2018 cement color TRD Sport. It appears I am finding rust spots around the truck. I can’t imagine this is normal. You have to get up extremely close to see them.

    Normal for light coloured trucks. Just goes to show the previous owner didn’t really take care of the paint.

    As others have mentioned it’s typically cause by particles embedded in the clear that are oxidizing. Just needs a good round of detailing. Something like iron-x>clay bar>polish

    From the picture some of those specs look like what was mentioned about neglect. Rail dust is fairly common, you could Google for a definition. My '93 K1500 had it bad but white tends to show it much worse. Have 2013 and 2017 Tacomas now, both white. The 2013 has had a few specs that were easily removed with a clay bar, follow up with wax . Congratulations on your new truck.
