    THANKS!

Not qualified for the recall but I have the throttle tugging and other stuff that I’ve read people point toward this.

Likely DIY it so this is awesome! :burnrubber:

    You're welcome!

Credit @dilbert . He also posted the new pump part number somewhere. I found one listed on eBay. So, DIY is starting to be possible.

The one problem is that some places will not allow you to complete a sale with outstanding recalls. Be sure to check, unless you plan on keeping it forever.

Disclaimer: Self admitted ECU noob here, so be kind....
I have a 2020 Sport Double Cab Long Bed AT...
I hooked a scanner up to the truck, this is what I see...
Looks like my truck already has the update that is in question. Correct??

Mind if I ask what scanner you use that shows this info?
I'm going to be looking for a new "budget" scan tool and would be interested in knowing which ones display this info.
    TIA!

I recently purchased one just for this same purpose:

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06ZYTDKP3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

You can also go to Auto Zone and use their OBD2 Scanner to read your ECU ID, for free :)

I used the $32 (after coupon) from harbor freight to catch my dealer in the lie that they applied it when I went in for the recall. Think it’s called the ZR4.

It doesn’t do all the bells and whistles but it will read the ECU config ID.

It is noticeable if it is applied. I wondered if they would say they did it too, but as soon as I left I could tell the difference. It is settling in now and even more improved than the first 50 miles or so for me. The shifting is smoother while driving normally and holds gears longer when accelerating faster making it feel "sportier". I'd be raising some hell with the dealer/service manager for not applying it. It is a significant improvement, and I never really had many complaints about it in the first place, other than always wanting to lug around at 1000 RPMs and occasional shift logic things where it upshifts only to downshift 2 gears when accelerating.

So another tune report....after 2 trips to the dealer, the first was 4 days ago for the recall and to have the ECU reflashed per the TSB. They did the recall work and said they did the TSB, come to find out they did not.

I got a OBD scanner from harbor freight and confirmed it as the the old configuration was still the one running, however I didn't really need the tuner, as it was obvious because my weekly drive on a certain highway was the following day and there is one particular overpass that the truck has a fit on. It will drop gears and get up to 5K rpm with the cruise control on at 70 for a relatively minor hill going over top of another road. I called the dealer and talked to the service manager and he was actually immediately familiar with the TSB. So I went in today and got it reflashed.

While I haven't got it on the highway yet, I can honestly, finally say that Toyota finally got something right with this trucks issues. It drives like it should have from day one. Much, much better throttle response, gears hold into the 3K range on moderate acceleration to actually get into the engine's power band, it doesn't try and run as fast as it can through the gears, and you don't need to bury the gas to get it to really move along when you need it to. Just be careful till you get used to it, I found myself getting up to speed way faster than I'm used to with the truck and readily exceeding the speed limit without noticing it much.

Best way to explain it is, I've driven the 87 octane OVtune on someone else rig and it is right on up there with that. Felt very similar. If you can get it, definitely go for it. Hell, if they won't do it, pay the .4 hours for the mechanic. You won't be disappointed with it.

Awesome! glad they took care of it. As I mentioned above it's noticeable. I noticed today that it feels even better than it did on Saturday like, maybe its the re-learning or whatever, but I have about 80 miles since the flash and it seems perfect.

A flash will do most of its settling in the first 20mi / trip. But, there are still noticeable differences happening for the first 500mi. Also, it seems that some of the deeper learning can take over 1k or so.

It is all too complex for my liking, but there's no option other than accepting it.

You're not the first person to say that. Toyota doing some (after)market analysis?

Sorry so late, but it’s probably not a cheap one.... it’s from Matco.... it belongs to my son. He is a diesel mechanic.... I didn’t even pay attention to what it is.

Oh without a doubt...you have to know Toyota is paying some intern below minimum wage and a box of hot pockets for college credit to read this forum and take notes.

If they can spend minimal bucks just buying an OVtune and applying to a test rig, seeing that somebody already figured this out, and then just copying the work, minus a few tweaks just to ensure not getting sued, that someone else did to an official ECU configuration and call it a TSB you know they will. Can you imagine the money that would save them not paying their own people to do it.

    FTW! They're like :help:.

Oh yeah, esp the amount of time that was needed to fix the faults. Geeeez!

I had learned to live with frequent freeway gear hunting and downshift hesitation when accelerating but after coming across this thread I scheduled and had my local dealer (Cabe Toyota) perform TSB-0092-20. What an improvement. Many thanks to those that posted about this TSB and their results!

Got this done today at my 20k service. The first few miles between the dealer & home seemed to be good! Can’t wait to put on more miles with the update
