Exactly, but tighten them good and snug.

Yes, I installed. URD sleeve is as mentioned above, no drilling, very easy.

I had some issues eith the Centerforce clutch/URD flywheel, when installed, they worked nicely. Afterwards, after few hundes miles, the clutch won’t disengage properly, hard to get gears in. Adjusted the pedal rod, checked everything, tried if there is air in the system, nothing helped. Maybe the flywheel have too small step or the clutch plate is too thick or something else.

I didn’t want to take the transmission out, so much work. So after it exasperated enough I burned the clutch just that I got smell inside. Then it worked ok few weeks, then the same symptoms came back, it won’t disengage.

After second clutch burnout it is been ok now for few months. Works well otherwise too.

Interesting, thanks for the info. Does centerforce make the URD clutches, or do you know? i have a urd stage 3 waiting to go in.

You might consider bypassing the accumulator to improve disingagement on high performance clutches.

No, as much as I know. Centerforce’s pressure plate says Aisin.
Thought about this, but it’s not an answer. If I adjust the rod, the grapping point moves, but it’s still didn’t fully disengage. Works ok now.

An incredibly bad design as far as I am concerned .
I understand that the transmission was beefed up to counter act the missing pilot bearing . After very carefull consideration , I think Toyota needs to do more to compensate for this switch .
When you mash your clutch pedal to the floor , your clutch disc is supported by the input shaft . A rotating clutch disc thats spinning at 3000 rpm creates a lot of load even if it only weighs 4 pounds . In days gone by when you mashed your clutch pedal to the floor , The pilot bearing use to support the clutch disc . Now , when you mash your clutch pedal to the floor , you rely on the transmission input shaft to support the load of that spinning clutch disc
In my opinion , its one of the reasons you cant keep a throwout bearing alive in the Tacoma .Not the top reason but 1 of the reasons .
Considering very few has throwout bearing issues with the 5 speed manual which uses a pilot bearing , I may have a valid point . The 5 speed has a pilot bearing
With the above mentioned , is there room to install a pilot bearing or is the input shaft too short to extend into the back of the crankshaft ? also , is there a snub on the input shaft that would except a pilot bearing ? sorry been a while since I did a clutch on the 6 speed manual.
Somebody show me some side views of the input shaft please

Are you thinking a pilot bearing could be retrofitted?

I need a couple side view pictures to determine if this MOD will work . I am fairly certain that the snub on the input shaft on the 6 speed doesnt extend into the rear of the crankshaft . If it did , I would very much consider a pilot bearing upgrade.
I wouldnt post stuff like this unless I had some good intentions

    Thankx .
No snub on the input shaft .
With that said , an upgraded input shaft with a snub on the end to accomodate a pilot bearing would be one of my fixes .Its going to save the clutch disc from whipping the input shaft and throw out bearing quill to hell .
Judging by the picture you posted , The input shaft is already off center .
If you add a pilot bearing to the input shaft to keep that junk straight , there is no reason why an aluminum quill or throw out bearing will go to crap in 4 years.
The factory input shaft goes almost to the rear of the transmission . This would be a costly fix . You dont hear 5 speed guys bitching about faulty clutch release bearings .The 5 speed guys have a pilot bearing to support the load of the spinning clutch when you push the pedal to the floor
Hope you see where I am coming from .

It's a really good thought, but I'm not sure there would be space for a pilot bearing.

Thanks for the crank picture . Lots of room there for a pilot bearing
The big issue is a costly input shaft and having to rip the transmission apart to install an aftermarket input shaft $$$$$$$$$$$$
Most guys wont tackle a job like this just to fix a squeaky bearing .
At this point , its probably not worth the effort .

The missing pilot bearing may be a factor when the disc pulls away from the flywheel . There is no support for at least 6 inches .
When the disc pulls away at 2500 rpm , the disc whips the input shaft and then the pivot ring on the pressure plate takes a shock load as the disc is re-applied.
This actually causes vibrations in the fingers of the pressure plate which leads to premature release bearing wear as well as the release bearing contatcing the fingers off center . It is why I have been looking for a self centering release bearing .

Would it be possible to have a machine shop drill out the center of the input shaft to accept an extension without having to tear down the gearbox?

    Looking at you @six5crèéd

Without a 6 speed in front of me , I am not positive if anything aftermarket could be adapted to the input shaft in an effort to save you from changing the complete shaft . I am not smarter than the engineers who designed the 6 speed , but I am looking for ways to make it work better as well as last longer .

Had this installed last year about this time along with the Stage II clutch from URD. It lasted about 20,000 Miles before the dreaded squeak returned with a vengeance. Also, I just want the damn bearing to stop squealing, is that really too hard of an ask?

I just called Toyota to get a price on their TOB replacement out of curiosity because my squeak is driving me nuts on my ‘06. Parts are about $130 and labor could be anywhere from $500-$650. Only problem is they only warranty the parts/labor for one year. Idk what to do.

Do you remember if all the updated parts were installed ? Just had a young lady PM me the other day . The shop that installed her clutch didnt do the upgrades . Needless to say , they sent her away with a new clutch and a squealing bearing .
New slave , new steel master , new clutch fork ball ?
Trying to figure out if all the upgraded parts actually helped with the issue ?
