The roads weren’t bad at all there was still some snow but basically dry otherwise. We got lucky and found two trees right next to each other.

Cause I live in NM and had an adventure.... (next I think I will try to hit trails in Socorro or Elephant butte?)

Wife and I an awesome weekend in SE Utah around Blanding and Bluff. Off-roading, a big dinosaur bone in situ, dinosaur tracks, 6 ruin sites, 10? Petroglyph/pictograph sites, about 500 shards of pottery across different locations (which we did not keep of course). And perfect sunny warm weather. Mid 50s during the day. We didn’t camp cause we thought it would be too cold at night, it wasn’t and we should have.

Large dino bone S of Blanding

    Butler Wash dino tracks

    Target Ruin

Old Highway between Cottonwood Wash road and county road 263 rated 3.0 of 5.0 on the jeeper off-roading scale. Rocky but not bad.

    Tower House ruin
    Old Highway petroglyphs

    House on Fire ruin

Moon House ruin - really cool place

Cool breakfast spot along the San Juan river

    River House ruin and pictographs

    Butler Wash petroglyphs (Kachina panel)

    Wolfman panel and ruins

    So so many pottery shards.

Goosenecks S.P. For a lazy sunset on lawn chairs

    Cottonwood Horse Panel

but we camped at Grapevine campground and it had 2 river crossings

Nice thing is that those are all close together and easy to get to with 4wd and short hikes. And close to NM! Totally worth it.

Grapevine campground is a nice little spot. We always stay there if we get a late start from home and don't want to hunt for something else. I haven't seen that much water in a while.

Looks like a good time, I totally didn’t think there would be that much water down there right now.

reminds me of a trip a few of us took a couple years ago on the NMBDR in November. Ended up breaking tracks from Corner Mountain down to Reserve it was a bitch sketch haha.

This past weekend @TacoIII, another friend, and myself took a drive up the crest then the back road down to Placitias. Nice day drive with some good snow on hwy165.

It never accrued to me that I should also post the meet here as well, info below.

    MEET UPDATE

I'm not sure if anyone is interested, but here is a map of the route (blue) we'll most likely take on Saturday. Of course, people can break off and do their own thing or head out whenever but I figured it might be helpful for those of you not familiar with the area. Most of the obstacles are at the west end of the Puerco, so we'll probably stop by Snoopy for lunch & a few wobbly pops. On the way out, we can drop by the dune at Windmill Hill, then swing by the Ledges and see who wants to catch some sweet air.

On another note, if you've got 2way radios, bring them. They can be helpful to talk shit or spot I've got a couple others can use.

    See you all Saturday.
    Date: Saturday Feb 6th
    Time: 9:00am
Where: Puerco near the main dune around hereish 35.244102, -106.862020

Hate to do this to you guys, sadly both me and my buddy are out with medical reasons. Buddy of mine is older and docs switched his oxygen tanks so they won’t last long enough for this trip.

Got recent news that I’ll need emergency surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona, so I’ll be taking it easy tomorrow and spending time with the fam before leaving. Count me in for the next one! You guys have fun out there!
