that’s what my gut says, but I’m unfortunately not very skilled with paint. I’m looking at having to remove the Prinsu install and have someone repaint the top I guess. Cool cool.

your call, but if it is only the flat pads where the holes are, then a paint brush will do the trick, no one will see it there. Dealer can sell you a nail polish size bottle of touch up paint that will match whatever paint code you have on your truck.

That’s true. I’m assuming I’d have to get every bit of the adhesive off first also?

my other question would be, since I put sealant in the inserts and all, will I be able to mount the rack again if I pull it all off or with the inserts be all gunked up and hardened after?

That is a tough call. Acetone will remove the adhesive but will likely remove whatever factory paint is still there. I’d rub as much adhesive off as you can with a plastic putty knife and clean up with alcohol then paint over any remaining adhesive. If paint doesn’t stick then you may have to go the acetone route and repaint the entire pad but take extra care not to spill or drip any acetone where you don’t want paint ruined. Less preferred , but safer to your paint, if scratches are new and no rust is to cover it with the same sealant you already used on the bolts. That is less preferred because sunlight may degrade the sealant over time.

Hopefully you used a silicone based sealant which sets but never goes rock hard and can then be cleaned off the bolts using alcohol or WD40. Once bolts are clean I’d first try to see if they thread in easily otherwise take a bolt to a hardware store and buy the matching thread tap to clean gunk out of the inserts

    thanks a lot!

I used Lexel as the sealant. It’s silicone-like I believe. Elastic and all. We use it at our business a lot and it comes up easy if needed. Stays rubbery.

Well, took it off. Scraped as much adhesive and Lexel off as I could with a plastic scraper. Then went overboard with more Lexel and sealed the entire previously taped area plus some and reinstalled the rack.

After I got the adhesive off it looked like there was primer under the tape. Where I scraped the adhesive off, I did get under the primer a little when I scraped though so I’m glad I redid it.

I hope it’s good! Should be, at least for as long as I’ll have this truck.

What add-ons are you guys using? I got a water port mount. But does say Yakima or thule fit the best? Need something for my kayak/ fishing poles etc.
Also who knows what size these are and a better place to buy them other than prinsu at 6 for $33 bucks.

Is anyone able to measure the height of the mounting spacer (I believe 3/4"?) and length of the m6x1.0 bolt that goes into the roof rail?

    Much appreciated

The bolt is a M6-1.0x55mm and the spacer is 3/4" OD, about 5/16" ID, and 1" tall. The washers are 1/4" fender washers with a lock washer.

Well, I hope your results are completely positive and no one gets hurt using them.

These are new to Amazon (a little small for bear paws, but a great price)

    https://www.amazon.com/PZRT-Alumini...words=truck+grab+handle&qid=1609187950&sr=8-4

Here's what I looked at previously, but honestly, can you have too much grab handle?

    https://www.amazon.com/Carrs-210312...rds=truck+grab+handle&qid=1609189190&sr=8-181

And I know it seems crazy but.........

    https://www.amazon.com/Sliding-barn...jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==

I've also looked at these. Now, you have to use your imagination, but if you drilled a third hole closer to the bend for support, and attached these flush against the side with the closed end facing forward so you wouldn't hook anything, these would be quick and easy grab handles. My straps were good, but honestly, I felt like the flexibility was less than ideal, and sometimes I had to put my hand into them first, rather than stand up on the sliders and then grab something. Plus I want a firm handhold when I am hanging onto something. Metal will be my next versions.

    https://www.amazon.com/Ansite-Handl...rds=truck+grab+handle&qid=1609189450&sr=8-291

Then I might get something like this for the rear of the rack. The benefit of these is that not only is it super long but that angled handle part would be great protection for my scene lights. Not from trees and stuff, but from me knocking into them. Mine are a little larger than the more flush type.

    https://www.amazon.com/JeCar-Handle...=aluminum+grab+handles&qid=1609190142&sr=8-42

Then there are times you need to think out of the box. What if you could put the black bracket part of these through the slots of the rack side rails and attach them to the cross members? These would last forever, be strong and look sleek as hell. Blue for me please.

    https://www.amazon.com/FATExpress-M...aluminum+grab+handles&qid=1609190519&sr=8-120

Same concept but less mounting flexibility, but that might be able to be changed with a properly drilled hole.

    https://www.amazon.com/Grab-Univers...aluminum+grab+handles&qid=1609190519&sr=8-140

Money no object? Get the best looking shit out there!

    https://agency6.com/collections/universal-grab-handles/products/soft-grab-handles-pair

I can go on forever but this kinda helps you and maybe others think about various options. One thing to consider though, aluminum will be forever.

I saw those last ones but man. That's ridiculous for handles. Lol I'll rock these see what happens if not may get some plastic type ones. I originally wanted them anyways
